Professional Mobile Disco & Wedding Disco
Paul Smith
OK folks there have been several posts recently from new DJs asking for advice on what to play at your average family function (eg weddings). Well I’ve made a trawl of all the DJU interviews where the question was asked ‘Name 3 songs that 95% of the time will fill the dance floor’.

26 members responded to this question as part of the interview and from their answers I have compiled a Top 10 below (well 12 actually wacko.gif ). However I expect this to change in a weeks time because all those that have participated can change their choices if they wish (I’ve amended 2 of mine because they were floor fillers when I choose them but now hardly ever get played) PLUS those members that haven’t yet volunteered for an interview can also post their top 3.

On 17th January I will update this list so place your listing now (3 maximum).

From those that have responded so far the top rankings are (number of votes in brackets)

1. ABBA – Dancing Queen (7)
2. Barry White – You’re the 1st, The Last, My Everything (4)
3. Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl (3)
3. S Club – Reach (3)
3 Foundations – Build Me Up Buttercup (3)
3 Los Del Rio – Macarena (3)
7 Geri/WeatherGirls – It’s Raining Men (2)
7 Stealers Wheel – Stuck in the Middle (2)
7 Jackson 5 – I Want You Back (2)
7 Dexy’s Midnight Runners – Come On Eileen (2)
7 Michael Jackson – Billie Jean (2)
7 Frank Sinatra – New York, New York

The chart has been compiled from the following information but please add/amend yours by posting to this thread.

For the DJU Chart the other 48 songs nominated each had 1 vote so all make it to =21 wacko.gif

For the VH1 chart this was all I could find out as it never appeared on their web site. I tuned in to the VH1 Top Floorfillers show 5 mins before it finished and managed to write down the 19 listed from the run down at the end of the show.

Thanks for doing this Paul; it's a nice reference for any newbies plus we can copy and print it out in case we have a breakdown halfway through a gig!
d6184r03
yea nice 1, but will this stop newcomers asking for a playlist?? But then again we were all new once biggrin.gif
