at tonights gig, I had a problem with one side of my CD player.
I was working from a light hollow wooden stage, my speakers were on stands either side of the stage. about 3 feet from the CD players.
the right hand CD player was jumping ( it does have a 20 second anti-shock) only the right, not the left and not on all CD's
I use a Numark CD-Mix 2.
I have just set the Cd player up at home, cleaned the CD lens and played one of the CD's that was jumping without a problem.
now was it the vibration from the speakers, or is there a problem that needs addressing, or am I being paranoid.
I had a back up CD player so there was not a problem

Ian you did'nt say what type of flooring it was............. sometimes the resonance through the floor if its loud enough can cause the stage to vibrate in sympathy. But maybe we're just being paranoid??

it was on a hollow, wooden home made stage, i have replayed the offending cd about 100 times this morning.
all seems OK

Firstly, well done for giving so much detail in your first reply. It not only gives US more to go on, but also shows that youve got your own suspicions about what might have caused the problem.
Given that the CD2 is an all-in -one unit, I think that its unlikely that even some of the stages (and even suspended floors) around, would have been able to "target" one side of a dual cd deck, leaving the other side unaffected. On seperate vinyl turntables, however, I have heard of vibration issues affecting a deck in the middle of a wooden table, but not affecting a deck placed directly over the legs of the table...simply due to the middle of the table being "free-er" to vibrate...wierd...
Possibly, both decks were receiving the same amount of vibration, but only the one that played up, had some other problem eg: dirty/slightly mis-aligned lens, anti-shock dis-functional, etc.
Another possibility is if there was anything else electrical, nearer the problematic CD deck, than the other...eg, Electric fan, lighting controller, amps, or other high current or wound/coil devices
