I'm gonna be doing a James Bond night soon. Has anyone done one recently? Any tips, suggestions?

Black tie, scanterly dress young ladies, Vodka martinis (shaken not stirred).
Prize for the best "bond" girl.
Prize for the best "arch enemy"
A Black Jack & Roulette table.
To be honest, these types of theme night can only really work with the right props, which me and thee as mobiles, either don't have, or transport.
I did a blues brothers night for BAT, and they had full size "cut outs" of police cars, everyone was given the hat and the shades.
Have fun............

Depending on the venue arrangements with the 'Theme' (lavish and professional or basic) ...
Can you tell us more what's happening on the night or what you've been told will be arranged????

An events company will be decking out the place, so I'd imagine it will be extrememly lavish. I know that they're gonna have casino tables as well, plus various cut-out figures staged around the venue. That's all the details I have so far.
What I was actually asking though, wasn't so much how to decorate the venue, but more along the lines of songs, apart from the obvious tracks used in the Bond films.
Also any gags, jingles, props etc that anyone may have used at a Bond night?

If you don't mind 'creative and spontanious' approach ..... here are a few used at other / similar theme nights. If it were a 'pop artist them', it would be easier to perform.
Give yourself a budget first!
Get yourself a Tux or black tie and shirt.
Apart from the general disco......the main characters on the night will be....
Bond Guys like M, Felix, Q, 008, 009 etc.
Bond Girls and main characters like M, Moneypenny
Bond Villains
You can 'try' - "who looks like the best Bond or Villain'
Get the 'Connory Bonds' to do a 10 second accent on the mike - get the ladies to choose the best.Note - invest in some novelty 'givaways':
Buy a cheap mike and spray it in gold paint. THE GOLDEN MICROPHONE FOR THE BEST BOND ACCENT.Get some union Jack stuff (cheap as chips) for giveaways - like vest, pants, knickers,(think Bond)
Try and get some 'rubber' bowler hats for an Odd Job vs Bond on throwing the hat on a stand.Get hold of a hat stand.
Try a Shove a Moneypenny - roll a pound coin (pound a go) 40" towards a prize bottle of Martini (just buy a bottle!)
Get some big sticker name tags for novelty characters and villains- Q 'T', M 'T', 007.5, 008.5, etc. Give them out to guests.
Bond is always in a sticky situation - so get hold of a TWISTER GAME - AND CHANGE THE RULES!!!!
Music - choose wisely on the night - don't over do it with the Bond Theme - if you can, take a spare CD player and have a bond choon cued up ready on the button at any time that is appropriate.
Get some sound fx - gunfire - explosions, machine gun fire, orgasam fx, screams.
Think presenter - think cue music for appropriate moment, be it a certain phrase, comment, catchphrase like 'Good Evening Mr Bond (Bond Music for 5 secs - main riff).
Or every time you mention "Bond".
Don't try to be Chris Evans or Johnny Vaughn - be yourself, but think presenter.
Get some silly glasses (Benny Hill jobs) and get a Q character to give a couple out to the
Bond Guys, saying they are X-Ray specs model 38dd - the blokes will act silly with the girls.
Novelty, when used can be a laugh - just choose the right time and it will work.
Ask the ladies - "right - so which villain out there has three nipples?"!
The girls will act silly if they know their Bond - or looked puzzled if they are young.
DON'T try to impress the crowd with Bond knowledge - just keep that to yourself and read the crowd as you would at any lavish gig, and make the announcements as appropriate.
But, to add ambiance to the night - use the crowd. You'll get an idea if they are up for it - or not.
When you see the guests arrive - you will know from the effort put in.
As for the prizes you purchased - save towards the end of the night.
Try not to go for cheap or crude laughs at the expense of the guests - they will turn.
Guests like to entertain themselves at most gigs - you just hold it together.
If there is a band on the night - give them center stage and relax - your time to DJ will be fine.
If there is a presentation or thankyou - use the Bond Thems (cued up and ready to go) for introductions or walk-offs.
If you are a mix DJ - mix in the Bond Themes (not all) into your sets - eg, 80's - Duran Duran or Aha.
Think glam and think Shirley Bassey.
If you can speak to the theme designers before the gig - they will tell you what is supplied - props and all.
If they have 'the lot' - including the Stuffed Crocs - the guests for the first hour will not be into main music - so get an array of different Bond Themes , instrumental, say, for 20-30minutes background when guests arrive, then change to a middle of the road lighter format.
Buy a lotto Thunderball Ticket and stick it in an envelope - present it as "a very possible large amount of winnings for audience participation".
I'll leave it at that for now - and will edit it down soon.
Anymore suggestions - i'll include here. Sorry it's sporad-dic dic, but I was thinking back and typed as I remembered!
Regards.
