Had a Scottish bagpiper last night, my ears hurt! Calling my fellow DJs, 3 others had the same plight, why do they doi it??

Och Laddie, how dare ye attack the sacred bagpipe nono.gif

I suppose it's a way to get rid of a lot of hot air, which leads me to believe that most of my ex Girlfriends would have made very good bag pipe players whistling.gif

Apparently bag-pipes were invented by the French and then 'gifted' to the Scots scared.gif
NineLives
Of course I like em! smile.gif

My 12 year old daughter has been learning to play the "Highland" pipes with a local pipe band for the last couple of years.

If you think a good? piper is hard on your ears, try living and listening to a learner once they have moved on from a practise chanter to a a full bagpipe toot.gif bash.gif

It's the only sound on the planet to keep away midges and mosquitos! huh.gif

I should really say this is tongue in cheek, but you already know! I was faced with a bloke in a dress 'squeezing a cat' on NYE for over 1hr, and in a small room fear.gif

The idea was nice, but the delivery was full of bum notes , etc.. Most of the guests did not appreciate it either.

Anyway, I have just booked my holiday in August in the land of bagpipes, and I am really looking forward to it, Scotland is one of those places on earth which is beautiful and has a special place in my mind. thumbup.gif

Oh no! Louise and Simon have both started practising the recorder as they return to school next week. 014.gif
Where's that thread on earplugs?

I personally dont like the bagpipes and think it kind of takes the impact out of NYE. But some people like it so we have to conform............... 533.gif

I did a wedding last year where they had this really old bloke playing bagpipes as the guests walked in. When I say he was really old, I'm talking REALLY old, at least 90 (i.e. probably older than even Mikeee rolleyes.gif )
He was awful, and most of the guests glanced at each other with very bemused looks wacko.gif no one said anything, because he was so old, and many of the guests were left wondering whether he was actually good when he was younger? or, if this was as good as the bagpipes ever sound? or if it was all a big wind-up biggrin.gif

We had our British Airways (my day job) Pipe band come in and play for us over the festive season, it was also fancy dress day and I was dressed as a penguin! I pushed my way to the front of the crowd and started conducting the main piper with my long yellow cardboard penguin beak, he was not happy - the look on his face was a picture! Decided it was best to change out of my costume just before they finished......

Opps! that was me...

When I saw what I thought was a mistake/typo (members dont use the "Create Poll" option very often, so an error could have crept in), there were no votes in one of the "No's" and one vote (presumably Brians) in the other "No."

I changed the empty "no" to a "Yes" and looks like in doing so, I may have averted some possible whiplashes from "bagpipe fanciers" considering the "Yes" and "No"s seem to have 6 votes each (maybe more by now). biggrin.gif

9 each now, I just voted Yes fear.gif

Bagpipes are alright in multiples, but a single one on it's own always sounds dreadfule to my ears.

I like Scottish bagpipes

because they normally live about 300 miles away from me.
