Oh Joy

Another nail in the coffin for the future of 'music'

Not disappointed though, given the 'competition'. I mean the re-hashed Father and Son isn't exactly the last word in Xmas music, in fact I find it bloody depressing wallbash.gif , and it's not like it's exactly decades since it was last inflicted it on us, but now we reach the point where artistes are re-releasing their cover versions, abeit getting the original artiste to add a vocal or two here and there wacko.gif .

We've had plenty of discussion about the track...and I bet many have also discussed the 'current' track with family, friends, roadies and audience...

I'm pleased that the good intention behind the Band Aid 20 is still being promoted, but I find that the current version probably represents the 'music of today', proving that the 'music of yesterday' is far better in comparrison rolleyes.gif

I'm also pleased that the Band Aid big wigs had the wisdom to put the original version on the disc too. Sounds better than my older CD recording!

I hope a lot of money is raised for the good cause it was intended for. smile.gif

Now - Live Aid 2. If that happens.... rolleyes.gif

Im pleased that we've got any Christmassy record at No.1 for Christmas. Any non-christmas subject seems a waste of the title of "Christmas No.1".

When the Christmas No.1 is a dreary derge like last years "Mad world" cover, its a bit of a let down.

At the Christmas dinner dances this month, the requests have definitely been for the original version rather than the Band aid 20 version, which I've been tending to play during the meal background music, with the 2 rap lines removed.

Its good too, that its benefiting a charity too.

Personally I can't stand the New Band Aid song and won't be using it when playing out. I recon they have ruined it, So am Disappionted but thats my opinion.
I was Kinda hoping it was possibly Lemar, I quite like his new one.

I've been threatening to play the Band Aid 20 track at "dance" volumes, as a way of getting people on slower nights (Mon/Tue/Wed's) to choose some better requests.

eg: "Now Ladies and Gentlemen, if you dont fill out your request slips; telling me what you'd like to dance to this evening - I may be forced to play the new version of - Do they know its Christmas..."

It doesn’t surprise me one bit, but I still think its pooh.gif yucky.gif
& i don't know anyone who thinks differently, i'd rather give the full price of the CD straight to charity rather than get it!
Steve
Not suprised but at least its for cchharriittyyyyy

Hardly up against strong competition, but would a record company want to release a strong track against it???
