i have got my first ever kids disco tomorrow, any i just realised that i have no idea what music to play, i can of course play all the christmas oldies. But what else, first thoughts are superman, ymca etc, But what about some other music to fill in the gaps?? (If i played barbie girl and spice girls music etc will i get hung, i really have no idea)

wil i have to have some party games for the kids, any ideas. i can vaguely remember how arches and sharks in the water work and of course, musical statues, will these 3 games be enough? Could i do a pass the parcel?? (perhaps not)

any thoughts about kids parties would also be greatly apprechiated,

i usually find all the latest tenny bands go down well like mcfly, busted, v, that sort of stuff. if your looking for bands then a mag like smash hits or similar may give you an idea of what they like. hope it helps a bit.

Okay this is the type of gig I do most, I would recommend anything from Busted, Mcfly, O-Zone, Black Eyed Peas, Sugarbabes etc all go down a storm.

I was out last night doing a school disco and I did "the island" game where each person has a piece of newspaper, and each time the music stops they have to fold and them and their partner have to get on to the small piece of paper with none of their feet touching the ground.

Also played corners, where they have to run to a corner of the room and then the people who are standing in the corner which you shout out are eliminated.

most action songs, eg ymca and grease go down well- to my suprise as I did think stuff like the Macerana and YMCA would be consider sad at there age but obviously not.

If you need any more help just ask, as I'm sure other members or myself will be able to give assistance.

Got to agree with Digital Discos - the action songs seem to be depressingly
popular. There's a mastermix cd called something like 'kid's party' that has
most of the tracks you'd need (or just look at the content list for suggestions)

Well they all like the Cha Cha Slide... and of course the Ooops up side your head song too...
