Hi, Can anyone give me a few artists/song tiltes that would be classed as "Funky House". I was asked for some last week and did'nt really know what to play, bearing in my mind I am only a humble mobile DJ who does a regular pub once a week so I'm trying to keep it commercial and not too obscure.

Any ideas would be helpful.

A Disco Kandi album is a good place to start.

No I'm not doing a house night, it's just that being an old bloke of 40 I don't get round the clubs as much as I use to and just wanted to educate myself on this type of music. As said in my first post I've been asked a few times if I could play a bit of funky house and so wondered what it was all about.

Marky is spot on, anything out on Defected is very cool, laods of Hed Kandi stuff can be also categorised as funky house. For me it is mainly in the range of 124 to 130 BPM dance music - basically modern disco music, and it is all very pleasant

Well to be honest there is a fine line. More commercialised dance that "could" be classified as funky house is:

Eric Prydz- Call On ME
Michael Gray- Weekend
Stonebridge- Put Em High
Junior Jack- Stupid Disco

A few artists slightly less commercialised

Dave Armstrong

I know it anti up2date funky house, but it passes and it is something a mobile dj will have with them.

If your going to buy some funky house, first have a look at your singles, most singles have remixes on them and atlest one will be house, funky house or techno.
