I've been using this forum for around a month now and I could never have envisioned how much I would learn about DJ'ing and the related business in such a short time!
I'm hardly a spring chicken, after-all I've been DJ'ing since 1981 and it's been my full time living since 1985, in that time working in clubs all over the world and also doing mobiles not only all over the UK, but many other countries, and also 8 years of radio work, yet this forum has really opened my eyes to a few things that I'd never considered previously, and has also made me less insular, which is unfortunately something that 99.9% of DJ's seem to suffer from.
I've recently invited a few other mates/experienced DJ's onto the forum, so are you out there yet Al, Mark, Guy, Dan, Kev? 042.gif

A massive big up to Chris for not only starting the forum but also for personally inviting me. Dunno how you obtained my details, but glad you did smile.gif notworthy.gif
will get you a beer at PLASA pepsi.gif

I have to say that after the type of week i've had, a comment like that really does make it all worthwhile.

Thanks again 042.gif

Hi Eskie 042.gif
I agree totally with what you say about Chris and this forum
He really needs to focus on business as well because it takes a lot of time running forums.
Dj s do tend to get insular and are always wary somebody is after their business.
I understand this as I am full time and there are some dodgy people about in this game.
Most of the guys & the girls on here seem very professional.
A big bonus is Paula is able to act as bouncer and can carry speakers on head as well. She is a real plus laugh.gif
The mishaps we all suffer from time to time help remind us all that we can always learn new things about the way gigs go and how we operate generally.
Here's to Chris pepsi.gif
and make sure everybody gives him 1st shout at suppying equipment.
He's been in my wallet already notworthy.gif

I can only fully endorse Eskie's comments.

I'm learning something new everyday and the tips, advice and comments of the fellow dj's are enhancing my own performance and opening my eyes to the world of the mobile dj.

I fully understand that it must be very frustrating and annoying when the Forum rules are broken and flouted and my sympathy and respect goes to Chris for his hard work.

I've looked at some of the other forums, ordinary is the word I'd use. This one is the biz. Come on all of you, show your support for this forum, open your minds and be thankful that someone is prepared to give us the opportunity to do this.

Talk about on topic! Let me tell you more about this.....

it is difficult to find the happy medium between the two...if in doubt try it! tongue.gif . What people do not realise is that behind the scenes I may be working on here until 3AM. and then on my way to London by 6AM smile.gif of course you can all help me, by remembering to post within the rules! then I may not need to spend so much time babysitting each post!.

What you may not be aware is that I trade by mail order and I'm not sat behind a counter in a shop 9-5, I also have to deal with the day to day running of the business, carrying out repairs, chasing up returns, chasing up suppliers, visiting customers etc which usually fills up 7 days and well into the Evenings. Unlike the luxury of Plumbers, Electricians etc, I can't tell my customers to come back in 2 weeks when I'm not so busy, although the politics are the same. I usually return to find 50+ emails all waiting to be read and customers requiring my attention!. yes it's nice to be wanted but please don't email me a 20 line quote at 3pm and ask me where it is at 3.10 smile.gif logistically it is impossible for me to work like that, I may need to contact several suppliers in order to negotiate the best deals, getting the best price does take time.

My website has a secure checkout, please feel free to us it, it is the fastest way to place an order. if you want to take advantage of any special deals then I will email you a secure payment link which will give you your customised price. Complete your order by midday and it will usually be with you the following working day when in stock. Items out of stock can usually be forwarded direct from the manufacturer, so that you still get it the following day.

If you want to contact me, then mid evening is the best time, i've usually waded through the emails by then smile.gif , don't forget that unlike your local shop I do work 7 days, so I won't be offended if you call me for a chat at 7pm on a Sunday for example! smile.gif

Most support & Technical questions can be answered quickly via email, or this Forum, when I'm (or Malc) is online they are usually answered within the hour. But please do allow me a little time to answer sales or product queries.

All emails sent to me whilst I am away from the PC are forwarded to me as a text message. Malcolm usually looks after the role of admin on this forum if I'm away during the day and also posts under "Chris Pointon" by using my account. So don't worry if my posts appear to be from multiple personalities - i'm not suffering from a disorder, they are just two people posting under the same alias smile.gif

So thats me in a nutshell....lets hope it doesn't eventually turn me into a nutcase!

Now, how about telling us more about YOU! tongue.gif
The Spindoctor
Wow! What a great thread! I had been reading all posts like Chris but noticed that even my posts had dropped off somewhat, I did wonder if everybody had said all they wanted to say, and as Chris will endorse apathy is a very dangerous and sometimes prevalent thing here.

Then you all go and post stuff like that and it makes the whole world twice as nice, which is good considering Chris's split personality biggrin.gif

You lot keep up the posts and I'm sure Chris won't mind too much burning the midnight oil.

And from me "nice one mate! Its a pleasure to be part of something so refreshing"!
Tonsk
Well I'll add my two pence worth too (and believe me that's all its normally worth!!)

Before I was sent the invitation to look at this site I didnt even know anything like this existed. I was also one of those insular type's that, not through not wanting too, but just through not knowing, kept to myself.

Now it is great to argue, agree, understand and everything else what happens to everyone else.

The times when you read a thread and the "Oh my god yeah - thats happened to me too!" jumps into your head!

So once more - Well done Chris (and Chris) (Dont want the alter-chris to get offended!!) notworthy.gif

Here Here! what more can I say.

I agree with everything thats been said. This site is the bogs dollicks. I was struggling on my own, knowing that something was missing, the nights didnt seem to be going how I expected. Then I found this forum and realised that there are a lot of dj's out there going thro the same thing as me. The chance to "talk" made all the difference.
Thanks Chris - TOP MAN

i agree with everything that has been said, I now know that I'm not the only one who seems to have things go wrong quite often (usually faulty equipment).

Cheers Chris as soon as I have some money I will be buying from you. notworthy.gif
