I just got an email from WOOLWORTHS...

They are now providing a download service, where you order and pay for an album on their website at "normal" prices eg: £11.99, way before the album is due to be released, and they allow you to download the album straight away, and then send the "real" album to you by post, on its release date, which could be weeks later.

HMV have been offering a download service for a while now, but the music wasn't all that upfront/recent/chart.

Hmmm interesting one this.............. so you get a visit at work and say "I've paid for this music, but I don't actually have a copy of the original.......... yet???

Wonder what sort of reception that would get.

I think the songs are managed by "Drm" Digital rights management , the songs are .wma encoded with drm for , Microsofts "yuk" Windows media player, the songs expire and wont play soon after the cd's release date .
