Hi , Just wondered what you other jocks spent on a weekly visit to the record shop. In our local store current chart cd's are £3.79 so you not going to get alot for a tenner!! I've noticed there's a big difference in fees, depending on where you come from. I live in North Lincolnshire and the most I can charge is £80 for a normal nights work. Yet some of you down south charge £100-£400. Okay so things are alot more expensive down there but do we all pay the same price for cd's? By the time I've paid my tax, bought a couple of cokes and slipped my mate a few quid to help me there's not a fat lot left.

It's a good job my passion for DJ-ing keeps me going!!

Don't let your favourite uncle at the Inland Revenue hear you admitting that!.
The Spindoctor
No....... if anybody asks you this one, you saw a guy walking past and gave him money for a drink for helping lug the heavy stuff, but you have no idea who he was.
DJ Spinko
Loz,

There's been other threads on a similar line to this but here's my tuppence worth again .
I buy the monthly Mastermix Pro-Disc on subscription, regretfully from one of Chris's competitors who offer it miles cheaper that direct through Mastermix !
This is a great disc for function dj's like myself who only buy pop/chart and not the specialised dance/remix stuff available.
Last month's issue contains the following:

1 Christina Aguilera - Fighter
2 The Androids - Do It With Madonna
3 Bone Thugs 'N' Harmony ft. Phil Collins - Home
4 Busted - You Said No
5 The Cheeky Girls - Take Your Shoes Off
6 Craig David ft. Sting - Rise & Fall
7 Girls Aloud - No Good Advise
8 Ronan Keating - The Long Goodbye
9 Jennifer Lopez - I'm Glad
10 Lisa Maffia - All Over
11 Meatloaf Ft. Patti Russo - Couldn't Have Said It Better
12 Nivea - Laundromat
13 Outlandish - Guantanamo
14 Kelly Rowland - Can't Nobody
15 Lisa Scott-Lee - Lately
16 Snap - Rhythm Is A Dancer (2003)
17 David Sneddon - Don't Let Go
18 Sonique - Can't Make My Mind Up
19 Stereophonics - Madamme Helga
20 Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body
21 t.A.t.U - How Soon Is Now

I've subscribed since January and in that period of time I've only bought a total of 7 singles, up to and including this week ! thumbup.gif

i don't spend a lot now because i play the occasional pop tune, but mainly old soul.

I get a lot vis mailing lists etc,

20 years ago, i was spending in excess of £150 per week on vinyl, those imported 12" & Japanese Kazz lp's kept me poor

LOL LOZ smile.gif
Actually it`s not about competition as such, cos competition is healthy and Chris`s prices would take some beating anyway.
It`s simply that Chris (aka Congleton Sound and Light) finances this website and forum out of his own pocket, so it`s more about good manners and etiquette.
Anyone can make a mistake (made a slight slip-up meself a while back), so I reckon he`ll forgive you (this time) smile.gif

.. We could consider a little Chris-mas pressie to our host and founder - I really wouldnt mind donating a small membership fee - how would anyone else feel about this - I think most of us have found this forum extremely useful and we are never to old to learn - I have gained lots of knowledge and I am sure that the starting out DJs find this site invaluable... Chris must spend hours on this and it has been really well thought out and has gained a good membership of serious DJs... think Chris deserves a little something for his time and trouble - "discuss"!!!
Chrispy
LOL Karen!. Nah, a drink at the Plasa is all I ask.
