Is it me, or has anyone else who has seen the 'new' video to Electric 6's Radio Ga Ga found it to be extremely insulting and in poor taste to the late Freddie Mercury?

Not only does the lead singer 'impersonate' Freddie in guise and 'some actions', but goes further by 'dancing on his grave' - but tries to indicate that he is a 'ghost' of the Queen frontman in some scenes.
Also, the inclusion of poodles on guitars is supposedly to 'poke fun' or make lite of Brian May's hair, which I did not find offensive, but to imply thru characture of 'Freddie' - was into beastiality, I find totally disgusting and insulting, not only to the fans of Queen, but to the living relatives of Freddie, especially as his real name is depicted on a fake tombstone at the end of this video.

I also find it disturbing that the music channels on Sat TV choose to show this video on the Anniversary of Freddie's death.

You seem to be a big queen fan dan??

Im glad you bought this up, at first glance when i asw the video i thought it was a knod at the work he did. But like you i started to see these actions that i found insulting to both the great man himself and his family.

I saw Electric 6 cover this at Glastonbury 2003 and thought it was a weird choice of cover until the crowd started doing the actions and i was stood with 50,000 people doing the same. It was a bit of a rush at the time. But now they are relasing it as a single, Which i have no real problems with. Its a good song why not do a cover? at least then queen can be introduced to a younger generation and i hope they will dig out the originals and listen to them to. And Queen will then live through another generation.

But i find this video a horrible 'tribute' to Freddie!! The man deserves more than some idiot dancing on a spoof grave.

The song isn't a patch on the original either.

Im no fan of electric six, and this video is in really, really, bad taste.

If I get a request for "Radio Ga Ga", its the Queen version going on. This Electric 6 version is more acurately described as Radial goo goo. yucky.gif

I suspect its a way for this group to get publicity..... they obviously couldnt come up with an original tune - and to ensure that they got publicity, decided to do a very provocative video.... Isnt it a shame that they have to rely on bad taste to get themselves talked about.

this seem to be the trend, M n M doing send ups of Mr Jackson and now this instult...... what ever next ?

A lot of bands make music/videos in poor taste. Electric Six are just one of them. Just because they've done one good song - Danger, High Voltage - followed by a typically poor follow-up - Gay Bar - doesn't mean they will suddenly become 'good-boys'.

The Gallaghers were ruffians from Manchester, they still are. They just have money now. Wayne Rooney is a hot head, he still is, even after his move to Manure.

Enjoy it for what it is - an average band trying to sell records in the only way they know how - at the expense of others.
