Here is my Playlist at a Wedding this Week...

Our first dance is The Time of our Lives by Green Day

Finally, the sort of music we are hoping for is as follows:

Punk Rock - Green Day, Sum41, Blink182, etc.
Rock - Lost Prophets, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, The
Darkness, Nirvana, Stereophonics, etc
Indie/Recent Pop - Blur, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Good Charlotte, Coldplay,
Travis, David Gray, Feeder, etc
Chart - Robbie Williams(recent and swing versions), Dido, OutKast, Snow
Patrol, Keane, etc
Rap - 2Pac, Dr Dre, Eminem (older stuff), Shaggy, LL Cool J, etc
Dance - Old Skool mainstream (commercial chart stuff) "Sweet Like
Chocolate", "Here the Drummer Get Wicked", etc

No trance, house, techno, ABBA, Jive Bunny or cheese or chart stuff!

Should be an interesting night huh.gif

Well theres just over 30 tracks there, if you just play one from each mentioned artist, so about 2.5 hours worth.

Looks like they forgot that "Pop" meant "popular" - they say at the end "No chart stuff", yet have asked for things that were popular enough to chart, and have even asked for "Commercial chart stuff" earlier on in the list wacko.gif

I refer your honourable client to the following advice taken from a wedding planners web site under 'Entertainment'

QUOTE
Don't provide the DJ with a list of all the songs to play for the night.  Remember you hired a DJ not a juke box operator. By playing exactly the list that you give them, your DJ would not be allowed to read the crowd and play the correct music. Just leave it to your DJ to do their job and everyone should be happy.

I say don't worry Chris. You'll get the hang of it no problem.

This kind of wedding booking is very common in many countries. It is extremely popular in America, where DJs provide web listings of their songs and allow people to select.

It has gone mainstream in Ireland, partially through people returning from America after working there. It works out pretty well. You just have to keep on reminding yourself and everyone else that they are celebrating two peoples' union and it is their day. In Ireland people respond to that, I presume from its popularity in America that people respond to it too, and I have no doubt that British people, famed for their respect and courtesy will also respond.

Bonne chance

Are the younger generations starting to move away from the cheese?? some might argue this is the cheese of the futrue laugh.gif

I personally love these kind of nights and get a real buzz out of playing them.

Not a bad act there. nearly all tracks from any of these artist will be instantly recognised and should get a reasonably good reaction.

Have a good Night Chris!! biggrin.gif
