Full Version: Instantly recognisable crowd pleasers

Gary
every so often at a gig, you start a tune off into the mix which is distinctive enough to get a "woh yeah, I like this one" sorta noise from the dancefloor, after only a the first few recognisable seconds.

Different from floorfillers (mostly) these are the tunes which are simply "catchy"...

Here are a few which I've come across - which are recognisable almost instantly. Try humming the beginnings of these tracks in your head as you read 'em...you'll see what I mean:

Musically recognisable:
Depeche mode: Just cant get enough
Paul Simon: You can call me Al.
Dee-lite: Groove is in the heart
Yazz: The only way is up
Stealers wheel: Stuck in the middle with you
The 4 seasons: Oh what a night
ZZ top: Gimme all your lovin'
Rose Royce: Car wash
Human League: Dont you want me

Vocally recognisable:
Black box: Ride on Time
Gala: Freed from desire

Any more?

Chris' list included:

> Soft Cell - Tainted Love 12" / Where did our love go

I used to have that years ago on vinyl (obviously, I guess) - but it's lost/been
eaten by the kids or something.

Does anyone know where to get a version on CD or on-line? Dont want the standard (short) version.

cheers, Chris.

I remember using 2 x 7" versions of this and mixing A side into B then finishing with a different version of Where did our love go - Donna Summer maybe??

Anyway, great fun with a crowded floor...........great tracks
