Okay I decided to start getting most of my new music off woolworths downloading service.
I downloaded a few songs burnt them to a cd and put them back onto my pc as ots files.
But for some odd reason last night I downloaded some songs and it said I didn't have the licence to copy to a cd.
How come I could do it the first time and not last night?
I payed good money for the wma files which ots won't play.
I don't really fancy switch from windows media to ots or vice versa in the middle of a gig.

Probably because some downloaded files will not allow you to copy them more than once. If you download music legally then you can either burn it to disc
or transfer it to a laptop / mp3 player you can't do both.
Ultimately the files will not let you convert them to one format and then re-convert them again. So if you download legal MP3 music for DJ'ing use on a laptop it HAS to go direct to the laptop it is going to be played on and in its original format.
When you download music you are buying the right to burn it ONCE only.
This is UK copyright law for you

Legal downloads often have a number of icons displayed next to them, showing how many times they can be downloaded, copied, burnt, played(normally unlimited) etc.

Thats why I use Atomix Virtual DJ.
As it plays .mp3, .wav and .wma tracks and also doesn't make me convert all my music to its own format which will only play on that program
Thats the reason why I don't get along with OTS as you have to convert all your music to OTS format
Whats the point in that?!

P.S *Cough!* Virtual DJ *Cough!*

Incorrect, OTS will play MP3 files as well as OTS.

That's why I always download mine direct to my portable HD |
Are you able to take a backup of that drive, with the Woolworths (or similarly protected) files on it?
I wonder what a RAID device (where in one mode, it makes a mirror image of everything on one drive, to another identical spec'd drive), would make of it.

I'm trying it again to see if it will work.

I was actually quite amazed when I when into a computer place in my area. For a start the man actually knew what OTSDJ was- he was first to mention it.
He was a dj himself. He has setup ots dj in at least 10 bars/clubs in my area. I was amazed.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I wonder how full the harddrives were on each system at the time of purchase.
The more space the better.

Well he was talking about a bar where he setup a newish laptop with an external hardrive and sound. He basically tested the whole system with one of his data dvds suppose there isn't much else to do.
But basically the people behind the bar just slot a cd whenever, and I think he said they had about 1000 albums now.
Is his advice any good?

I'm actually so annoyed after downloading files from both itunes and woolworths to find that I can burn none of them.
What a waste of money. Looks like I'm often into town to buy some singles.

Ok, I stand corrected
So whats the point/advantage in converting all your Mp3 tracks into OTS format then?

I have downloaded and succesfully burnt to cd many singles from Woollies already. Bargains! I have had no problems in doing this. Sometimes they are a bit slow to download, but other than that so far, so good.

| Tesco said its digital music store will use Microsoft's Windows Media Player and will charge 79 pence per song |
But nothing about burning your legally purchased track to CD or Laptop / MP3 Player. I see that as being you can only play the track from your PC in Windows Media Player
