I'm fairly new to the forum so I'll start with a big Hello to everyone, also, I'm not entirely sure that this topic goes here, but here it is anyway......

I am just starting out on the long, rocky road of a mobile dj and have recently purchased a pair of ACME Spiral Scans.

The lights themselves work fine when linked up together with a DMX cable, however, my problem is this......

The blackout controller which came with them only blacks out one light. I have attached it to both incase of a master/slave situation but to no avail. Whichever light has the controller gets blacked out but the other one stays lit.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm new to the the whole DMX scene so I could do with some friendly advice.

Also, each light has 10 switches ( I assume these are for DMX reasons ) and I've tried changing these but still no luck.

You kind assistance in this frustrating matter would be most appreciated.

Cheers. biggrin.gif

ok i dont have these lights or the controler you talk about, but heres my ideas on where to start looking,

dont set one of the lights as slave keep them both on the same DMX settings, then they will copy each other and should black out together too,

if you set one as salve so it compliments the other light then you may find that black out on one effect causes another one to go white for exsample...

hope it helps........

Thanks for that. I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on.

Fingers crossed!!!!

Cheers.

We have a pair of ACME Puma’s & the one the controller plugs into has to be set as master & the other has to be set as slave, I would have thought it would be the same with your ACME Spiral Scans.

Can you tell me how you set one as master and the other as slave?
If my memory servers me well the switches on each are numbered from 0-9.

Cheers.

I’ll have to check when I get home tonight then let you know, unless my son comes on this thread from home then he will be able to tell you (because he set them up in the first place) All I know is if you plug the controller in to the wrong one they do all sorts of funny things. whistling.gif

didnt the lights come with a manual?
WhiteShark
I bought the lights second hand as funds are low sad.gif and didn't get a manual with them. Wasn't too worried at the time as I foolishly thought I'd be able to work it out easily enough.

How wrong I was.......

Ok.......look at the front of the Spiral and there is a bank of white switches.
set the switches marked 1 and 10 to the on position. this is the master.
now set the second units switches no 1 and No2 to the on position, this is now the first slave unit.

using your dmx cable connect it to the socket nearest the Microphone Jack on the back of the master unit, and connect the other end into the socket on the slave.
connect the controller into the Mic Jack on the master unit and make sure when you turn em on you turn BOTH on at the same time or else it throws a wobbly tongue.gif

you should now have em all working ok, if you need a scan of the manual let me know and I will sort it for you as its only 4 pages.....good lights though, I`m still looking for a second pair cheap biggrin.gif

Ade,

You have saved the day. If you could send me a copy of the manual I'd very much appreciate it. I'll PM my email addy to you.

Thanks to everyone for their help with this.

Look out for more confused posts by me in the very near future. biggrin.gif
