Whats been your scariest moment as a DJ (and no, you're not allowed to include the first time that you heard that awful song sung by....
For me, it was over ten years ago. A hot, balmy summer night (well, morning really)...by the kebab van (the central meeting point of several Apré-Show DJ's). Due to the weather, my roadie and I had the windows down as we sat an munched our kebabs.
A middle-aged drunk wandered up to my window and said "How much will it be for me to ride your taxi to the railway station?". (You'd have thought that the large box trailer on the back of my estate car would have given the game away - oh, that, and the lack of an illuminated "Taxi" or "For Hire" sign on the roof
It was while I was explaining to him that I wasnt a Taxi, that he reached and arm in and wrapped it around my throat - with a pretty good grip as I remember.
I got up to 30mph before his arm lost its grip!
Moral of this story: Wind your windows up as drunks approach
