A sincere thank you to everybody who responded to my Email & post regarding the 11th Hour booking for tomorrow night in Hampshire. I'm proud to say that within 45 minutes I had recieved over 16 emails / P.M's and Phone Calls from interested people with offers to cover the event.

The details of the customer were passed on to those interested, and I assume that the problem was solved very quickly and at least one person is feeling a lot happier knowing that his function will still have a disco tomorrow night, and one that is more reliable than the first one who let them down.

Since this has worked so well, I will be spending some time building a database of opt in D.J contact email addresses for those interested in helping out for booking cover as required.

If you wish to be informed of any "D.J required" opportunities then you will be able to add your email address to receive the information. Using the board email address and bulk mailing members with this info, was okay, as a one off, but not practical. BY building a dedicated email list - Any interested D.J can opt in / opt out of the email notifications as and when they happen!.

Yes, mass emailing 197 members from the Forum Database is less than perfect and a severe drain on resources, in fact we nearly came grinding to a halt - had we been emailing 250 members we probably would have crashed the forum!.

Which is why we need an opt in database of members willing to respond to last minute request's. These members will submit an email address and I will add it to the database. Should a requirement arise, then I will enter it into the system and the details will be bulk mailed to those participating. If you are available that night, and it is wiithin your area then you can respond as you wish.

This would be entirely optional, you could opt in or out of the database at any time. If you don't want to have offers of more work then don't join and you will never be disturbed with the emailed offers.

Yesterday was a one off and I don't intend on doing it again. I was just helping another forum member out, by using the email facilities on the forum. There was nothing whatsoever in it for me, I just thought that some people may appreciate the opportunity of the extra work!.

I scrapped the Database idea, there isn't enough interest.
