Please Remember the Review Section is meant for just that. A REVIEW of a piece of equipment that you own. If you are asking for general advice and opinions please make sure that you post it here, in the 'BUYING EQUIPMENT' section. In my Opinion the Gyroscan was a bit of an anti-climax for Soundlab, and an expensive one at that.
Originally manufactured for the advertising industry, with its rotating gobos which were designed to rotate advertising Gobos with brand names on the floors and walls of supermarkets and high street stores.
Sadly, it lacks any real impact with the Disco Industry, with its 5 colours and no split colour facility it is sadly lacking in the most basic of features of rival scanners costing a fraction of the price. Yes, the scanner rotates the gobos, and yes for 2 seconds it looks great, but at the end of the day the Gyroscan is the basic of budget scanners, but with a silly price.
If you are considering a Soundlab Scanner then the Colourscan wins hands down. With a far cheaper price tag than the Gyroscan, it has several more features and is a far more effective piece of kit.
Whilst the Gyroscan chugs sluggishly in the slow lane with its 5 colours / 5 Gobos the colourscan speeds ahead with its 13 gobos and 10 colours. Add to that other features which aren't on the Gyroscan such as strobe in any colour and split colour, plus better and more varied built in programs.
In short, save some money and buy yourself a set of Colourscans you won't regret it. Once you look beyond the thrill of rotating gobos then the Gyroscan is just a very very basic scanner.
I have a short video of the Colourscans in use, click the link below to download it.
