The vast majority of guys on here have probably got a pretty good music knowledge, covering all types of music genres.
How about a little quiz. I'll start it with 5 questions. The first person that can answer ALL 5 questions then gets to ask the next 5 and so on?
ere we go
1. Name the famous rock star who played guitar on the Isley Brothers- Shout?
2. Name the band that Bluey from Incognito started with in the 70's?
3. What was Prince Busters influential record label in the 60's
4. Who did the original of Ray Stevens-Misty?
5. What record label did Jamiroquai have his first hit with?
Not the hardest questions, but not the easiest either
Ok let's have a stab at this...
1. Jimi Hendrix - I think he used to be with them...
2. No idea at all...Acid Jazz isn't my forte
3. Blue Beat (the credit for this goes to my mate who's into all that reggae business!)
4. Johnny Mathis
5. Sony
How did I do?

Ian,
u got 2 right matey. I think that #4 will get most people, as you really need to have a wide music knowledge to get that

Question 1) - Jimi Hendrix circa 1964?
Question 2) - Light of the World (late 70's to 1980)
Question 3) - Blue Beat Record Label - 1960
Question 4) - Sung originally by Johnny Mathis (Adapted from an Errol Garner Track)
Question 5) - Sony S2 Label
Eskie
May 8 2003, 03:04 PM
Yep, the first 4 are on the button, but #5 isn't
Jamiroquai's first hit was "When you gonna learn" in 1992 and was released on the Acid-Jazz label. All his hits thereafter were on Sony.
Maybe the word 'hit' should have been defined slightly, as this track made #52 which by many's definitions is maybe not a hit
Errol Garner was what I was looking for on #4 but u get a Blue Peter badge for naming Johnny Mathis as well
So, it's now over to Disco Direct to give the next 5 questions...
[PS. I don't actually have any Blue Peter badges, but they're pretty easy to make. Mikees good at that sort of thing so I'll let him tell u how...

]
Ere I put Johnny Mathis! That means I get 3!!!!!!

I'll give 4 out of 5! But I'll be nice....
Answers
1) 1993
2) Mirage
3) KLF
4) Wild
5) Bijou
Back to u then
Looks like it's gonna be between u 2 forever coz I was too slow to answer the questions hehhe, maybe tomorrow i'll be a little more sharp....
Eskie
May 8 2003, 10:47 PM
Hmm, looks like I was being too clever for my own good, I knew that the answer was Mirage, but I thought you were asking who the vocalist of Mirage was! Kiki Billy sang with them for at least 3 of the hits, and I was taking a guess that she sang on all of them!
I'll think up some more questions; be back in a tick!

May 8 2003, 11:17 PM
The next 5:
1. Who did the original of the reggae hit by Sugar Minott 'We got a good thing going'?

2,3,4 & 5 are correct, but not close with #1
by the way, if u haven't heard the Frank Zappa track-"Bobby Brown", you really should check it out, it's hilarious, all about a gay sexually disfunctional radio dj!
..oh well, it seems to be that 4 out of 5 is acceptable...
#1 is Michael Jackson!
over to you DD...
can't believe that none of the other dj's on here can answer any of these questions. Especially Mikee & Spin, I mean they must have been near middle aged when the Zappa track was released
Dukesy
May 9 2003, 12:33 AM
Sorry about that - I picked Lloyd Barnes because he worked with Studio One in the 70's.

If no one's answered any of them by tomorrow night I'll post the answers.
