Every now and then, I get a request for a tune which I may not have played for a long time which was awesome in its day, and which is not heard often on Radio / TV. A kind of 'gone but not forgotten' tune.
These have all been recent requests which have made me go WOW, all quality tunes that deserve a good airing:
Soul II Soul - Fairplay
Jon Carter - It's yours
Ten City - That's the way love is
Katmandu - I wanna dance
Hamilton Bohannon - Let's start the dance II
Nightcrawlers - push the feeling on
So, what WOW! requests have you had?

I bet motown still sounds bad on your system!!! Funny how they did not use bass in that stable, but they did in non-motown 60's outfits like the chiffons.... I digress.

I can vouch for that...it was so loud, and so punchy that you almost couldnt hear every commerical burgular alarm with a vibration sensor, going off within 2 miles of the speakers...
The speakers themselves would have impressed the guys that put up Stonehenge!

A long time ago I read somewhere that Berry Gordy deliberately made Motown tracks with no deep bass, so that they sounded better on the car radios of the time.
Any bass would cause the single 4" speaker in the dashboard to distort. Producing songs with no bass ment that Motown tracks would always sound clearer to people listening on their car radios, and allow them to turn them up louder than other songs that had bass.

How fascinating, that makes sense. And how things have changed eh!
By the way, I had to play a John

Denver track on Saturday. What an absolute load of complete and utter

- a complete contrast to what we are talking about on this thread. Mind you, the customer requested it and liked it, good for them.
