They say mimicry is the sincerest for of flattery but I’m not so sure!
I have just found out there is another DJ Sounds operating in north London near Woodgreen,
a colleague at work brought a tatty piece of paper in to work today, with DJ Sounds disco & karoke for hire & a mobile phone number.
This piece of paper hasn’t even been cut its been torn to size.
After a quick phone call to the one in the North London I found out he doesn’t have PLI, none of his equipment is PAT tested & he only charges £25 per hour.
Now my son (the real) DJ Sounds has been posting on this forum for the last year, operates in South east London & North West Kent.
This is a little too close for comfort & I hope people don’t think this person in North London is the same one as in the South East.

Sorry Jackwabbit to sound off, but who determines who is the REAl dj sounds?, no one can! this guy could of been trading for years for all you know!

There's somebody else with my name based in Surrey who will cover London and who has been working for approx 4 years, but he's no fret, and if the day comes when I ever here from him telling me I have his name, I shall politely tell him that my disco name has been in operation for 30 years+. biggrin.gif

I really wouldnt worry about it,

I wouldnt worry about it... if you dj sounds is wanted and booked by clients then the other dj sounds doesnt deserve a second thought.... So many discos have the same name... which is why I usually use my own name - then there is no problem in people thinking they have booked me and getting someone else

the only way to really get round this is to register DJ sounds as a company if its still available. and then take the man to court to change his name.....

but sound like too much paper work

Id forget about him!

I agree to a point with Paula. Providing that this guy isn't actively muscling in on your Son's gigs, or trying to deliberately masquarade as him, then it's probably just an unfortunate coincidence.

I have been operating since 1988 under the name "The Ultimate Roadshow", and I don't doubt that there is above just myself using that name in the UK. Looking around the 'net there are a lot of close variations.

If he was snatching work from using your son's business name, then perhaps I would look at the matter further, but if you don't have the name registered at Co House (A lot of hassle) then you can't really claim exclusive right to the name.

...its not worth it... look at the big wrangle over bucks fizz.... and they couldnt safeguard their name when it came down to it... it just cost them lots of dosh!

There is another ADS Entertainments too, his website has two parts, the entertainments side and the removal van side !!!! I ain't too worried about it.

Just found his website....Very professional.

Its great that not many people have the name "OTronics Media Services"!!! That's why I am trying to think of a specific name for the disco side. I currentl use "OTronics Media Services: "Star Discos"" but need something with umph, and a specific disco slogan (rather than the general "Your Community Service"). Anyway, going a bit OT! offtopic.gif nono.gif
