The first few records played after the buffet are important to try and get the people initially on the dancefloor.
Any ideas on what to play or do u have a trio that u mostly play.

I start with the more modern party stuff then move into older stuff. I could start of with Sophie ellis bextor-murder on the dance floor, 5-Dance, Macerena or saturday night, depends on the the crowd.

As always the age/feel of the audience is a big factor, but two sets of three from me can be:
Youngish age group
Cant Get You Outa My Head - Kylie Just A Little Bit - Liberty X The Tide Is High - Atomic Kitten
Slightly older
Dance the Night Away - Mavericks Man I Feel Like A Woman - Shania Mambo No. 5 - Lou Bega

just for a change, instead of playing the mavericks ~ try the version of dance the night away by englebert humperdink !! i think its better, has a nice latino feel to it . whilst on the subject, does anyone else play quando quando quando or is it just me ??? another top tip ~ you cant hurry love by the dixie chicks, works well !!

First 3 for me this weekend...
S Club 7 - Dancing Queen Mavericks - Dance The Night Away Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup
I did a wedding, 60yr old bride, 70yr old groom and a load of Maltese Nuns to play to - those nuns don't half rock when you play dancing queen heheh

Spinko must have been to one of my gigs......
If its a wedding then i start with the 1st dance followed by a cpl of more slowies then into the mavericks, shania twain, lou bega, etc.....
You find that most of the older guests will dance to these then once the younger guests have had a few drinks they will then get up and dance.
