Professional Mobile Disco & Wedding Disco
Justin B.
I am twenty-one years old and I am from Trinidad & Tobago. Trinidad is a Caribbean island pretty close to Venezuela. We have warm weather many beaches and lots of greenery. Trinidad’s population is small. About 1.7 million people. Portuguese, French, African, Indian, Spanish, Chinese, English. We have different races religions and cultures. So far we have all gotten along just fine.

Trinidad is famous for our love of parties. The biggest party being carnival when everyone dresses up in costume and take it to the streets for three days of non-stop madness. Even when it is not carnival season the nightclubs are jam-packed four days a week.

..sorry....I think I’m straying.....let me get to the point..

My brother and I have recently Started a mobile entertainment business called Epic Entertainment Solutions. My brother and one of his friends handle the DJ-ing and I do the lighting. All of my lights are from American DJ. I use Aggressors, DJ Rollers DJ Scans and Fog Machines which are mounted on two crank up stands/ Trusses.

We also want to start renting interactive inflatables and Audio Visual equipment.

My problem is I would like to learn to do more with lighting, but there are no schools In Trinidad that teach lighting design. I have seen in magazines and on TV amazing things being done with lights, from mind blowing rock concerts using Moving Heads to architectural lighting using gobos to create magnificent colour washes.

I am also interested in learning to create music. I recently got a program called fruity loops from Kazaa but it's a bit confusing...maybe I just need to spend some time on it.

I would like to either find a school that can teach me lighting and sound or work in a company that does this already. Preferably in London. I have allot of family living in England so I shouldn’t have a problem finding a place to stay.

I would really appreciate all the help I could get.

Best regards,

Hello Justin, and welcome to Mobile D.J chat smile.gif

Audio and Lighting is quite a complex subject as I'm sure that you know, and trying to find a course in both Audio & Lighting technology as a combined course is very difficult.

I don't know of anywhere in London that offers this, but I do know that the university of Derby does offer several courses on Music Technology and also a combined Audio & Lighting course, which personally, I think will be the most beneficial to you.

You can find this information here University of Derby

Maybe you could email them to see if they can suggest a similar course based at a university or college in London?, I am sure that they will be able to offer you advice on this.

Good Luck

Chris
