I just love the new Emma Bunton track "Sing for Anamaria". smile.gif

I played it out for the first time at a wedding last night. It went down a storm, and I had a few people come up and ask me what it was. (Do they never listen to what I say over the mike wallbash.gif )

I also love Outkast’s "Roses" from "The Love Below", and just saw the video for the first time this morning. But I need to get hold of a clean version.

What are everyone else’s favourite new songs? Not what do you think will be the biggest hit, but gives you a real buzz when you play it - what do you enjoy dancing/singing along to behind the decks?
Paul Smith
I haven't heard EBs new song (where have I been) but as a general rule I find that if I play something that's 'Too New' it clears the floor because people are not familiar with it.

Boogie Pimps - Sunny works but I think that's because it's an old song in a new wrapper. biggrin.gif

Another new one that could be a floor filler is 'Girls from FHM' with the old Rod Stewart song 'Do ya think I'm sexy' 533.gif

I much prefer the version by Marcus Vale - The Crickets Sing For Aamaria, the vocals & music are far superior, EB's version is to say the least very weak

as a side note, the music used on Rod Stewarts - Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, is a direct copy of soul legend Bobby Womacks - Put something down on it, so much so that he is credited as writer of rod stewarts tune.

True, but sometimes you can get away with it. I had just played "Hot Hot Hot" followed by "La Bamba". They were going crazy and doing all sorts of (bad) "latin dancing". At the end of La Bamba everyone was doing the hand claps, and they just lapped up the salsa feel of the Emma Bunton track.

Also being a cover helped. As you say, people like what they know. But it was wide age group so some might have remembered the original, and others would know who EB was.

I think we all like to try and throw in something new, knowing that it will be the first time most people have heard it. Of course most of the time we know to resist that urge, but when the opportunity arises go for it (and have another popular track ready to cut into immediately if they look like they about to leave the floor!).

For sure, it doesn't compare with the Marcus Vale version, but as this could be a big summer hit for EB it felt right to play it.

Wow Ian, I bow to your amazing music knowledge notworthy.gif

Some other great tracks have been listed here by everyone. Particularly like Joss Stone & Mario Winans. (Although I'm not so sure about 'Girls from FHM' - Yes I'm sure I will play it lots, but a bit tacky for my personal taste. But the fact that everyone has different taste is one of the things that makes the world such a great place. smile.gif )

Well, that applies to a lot of music, even if it can't be recognised.
"LMC vs U2 - Take Me To The Clouds Above", formed from merging 2 previous songs together made a massive hit back in January.
Then you've got Ultrabeat with "Feelin' Fine" which was a modern remake...etc
The list goes on....

Has anyone heard that Ozone song in another language? They have been playing it on Music Channels all week on Sky TV, and have got it stuck in my head. Am sure it will go far most of the anoying songs do!
