Hi, I've been asked at our local residency to start including some Rock and Indie tunes to our playlist, the only problem because we normally cater for weddings and Birthdays etc..... we don't have alot of that type of music. Bearing in mind that its a very young up to date crowd, so has anybody got some suggestions with regards to some artists/songs or can they tell me if there are any compilation albums that might help me out.
Cheers

Indie? - well if you are talking about the original late 80's / early 90's & 'Madchester' Stuff then...
Stone Roses - Fools Gold / Waterfall / Turn to Stone
EMF - Unbelieveable
Happy Mondays - Step on / Kinky Afro
Inspiral Carpets - Joe
The La's - There she goes
Primal Scream - Rocks
The House of Love - Shine on
The Farm - Altogether Now / Groovy Train
The Primitives - Crash
The Charlatons - The Only One I Know
A Few More - 80's Style..
Joy Division - Love will tear us apart
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
The Jesus And Mary Chain - April Skies
New Order - True faith
Depends on how obscure and specialised your crowd are. But the tracks on the first list will certainly be known and should be okay.
What Sort / Era of Rock? - Classic stuff like Whitesnake, Motorhead?
Or Guns and Roses, Nirvana etc?
Or Modern Rock?

yeh thats the stuff, I'm familiar with groups but not so much with the songs. I think he's trying to attract the college student type on a Friday. I'll have a scout round the second hand section at our record shop. I've got things like Pulp, Blur,Oasis and that sort of thing, but with it being a pub I don't want to be banging out some dodgy indie bands and loose the plot altogether.
