should these be ok for a gig with around 30 teenages in a room about the size of 2 houses? Its only a small community centre. There about 80WATT RMS i believe.

Also what kind of music do 13 and 14 year olds like?

Many thanks. 071.gif

That system should be "ok to fine" for an entry level system, for the venue size and headcount that you mention.

Music wise, arm yourself with the last 4 or 5 NOW albums, HITS albums, Pepsi Chart albums...oh and one or two tracks which are controversial, or has rude words in it to sing along to.

Personally, i think that they are too small!!!!!!
Gary
Hmmmm? Perhaps some further definition of the room size would be good.

If its the size of two "David Beckham" houses, then 200watts isnt gonna do it. Whereas 2 "Coronation Street" houses...no problem.

Could this be a new sound measurement standard, alongside RMS, Peak, Max etc..

eg: Dont plug a 3 house amplifier into speakers that are only 2 house smile.gif

Music wise i would go with what gary said. The last 4 or 5 now albums are good.

The latest chart music. For that I would watch some music channels and write down the most requested. I've done this since i stared and it hasn't let me down yet.

With kids that age most of them will tell you what they want. As long as you have the music they want you will be fine.

Peice of advice if it has swearing in cut it out. If there is alot of swearing don't play it. The kids might like it but the parents might not

Hope it helps

Hi, the sound rig would be better than your first choice, but bear in mind it is still budget stuff.

I have no experience of either of thelights, but would probably go for the 100 watt effects personally.

Hi WMDISCO
just to let you know I have just bought one of those Patriot scanners
and I am mighty impressed for the money, they are bright abd the movement is good, not fan cooled though so best not to leave on all night.
It has a good selection of Gobo`s as well. smile.gif and if you shop around its available below £80

From what I can see of the Tango, its a filament fest unit !!!!

all you see are moving reflected images of the bulb filament instead of gobo`s, but I have not seen it actually working.
Hope its some help 042.gif

How long is it possible to leave them on for without a break? (Patriot)

Thanks for the help. 071.gif

Hi

In my opinion, I'd say lights that aren't fan cooled should be given a break every 15 to 25 minutes.

Leave to cool for about 15 minutes. However, if they're the only lights you're using, they're gonna wear out pretty fast.

I need them on none stop for around 3 hours. fear.gif

There are some effects that you can leave on all night that use the 12v 100w reflector lamps - I have left a NDJ Chaos 2000 on all night on many an occasion without any problems at all. Granted they are a little warm at the end of the night, but they've been used a minimum of twice a week and left on during the whole evening.. and I've had it for over three years.

Some people slate the NJD stuff, but the Chaos is built like a tank!

the patriot is like looking a carbon copy of the chaos. they have the same insides aswell. i love my chaos lights, i let them run for up to an hour then cool for 15 minutes. saying that my other half left one on for 3 hours during one of our kids parties and it was fine.. smile.gif

Choas are good for the money.
