Does anyone else use these??? I want to know if I can make one the master and the other 3 slaves for 1 night as my controller is broken 014.gif

Anyone know if I can do this? And what the dip-switch settings would be?
kazzachi
Yep... we use these.... hold on and I will wait til del gets home - all I know is that we run all of ours off a computer!
DJGAVT
After getting a reply from Martin this morning they do not run as master/slave only through a controller or sound to light.... 014.gif

Oh well just have to wait to get my controller back.

Thanks

Oh the perils of buying 2nd hand Tat from Ebay! rolleyes.gif

Joe - Drop Karen an Email. Her and her hubby - Del, use mainly Martin equipment on their large Lightshow, so i'm sure they'll be able to advise you better.

You could also use the opportunity to ask Karen about the other matter?? smile.gif

I buy from ebay and dont find anything I get tat kid.gif

If you are asking about the slave/master question it is impossible to get them to do this on the 812's. You can have both running on there own sound to light but if you want to link them you need a controller.

Hey Gav - I'm now going to forward all of my "I've just bought this on E-bay and it doesn't work can you fix it on the cheap type emails to you to deal with! smile.gif .

The amount of people who have yet to realise that "sold as seen" in an auction listing is often code for "It's screwed, so I tried to fix it and made it worse".

Ok they can run master and slave :

QUOTE
To use Martin 812s in sound to light mode but have more than one doing the same thing, then set the dip switches on the first one and then on hte second one press the first dip switch down.

Voila !!

This tip is not in any of the 812s documentation

It depends which build level you've got though. Earlier ones were designed only to run from a controller, later Martin units had the extra chip required to 'retransmit' master data to slaves. You can tell because on the earlier (non master-slave) versions, there is direct continuity between the in and out DMX XLR pins, on later ones there isnt.

In the heyday of the Roboscan 812, the Master-Slave thing was pretty much for 'DJ' products and units of Martin's class were expected to be operated from a controller in an expensive installation...either the Martin own-brand unit or, most commonly, a Pulsar Masterpiece.

Martin dealer controller recommendation

Why not get a cheap Martin RS485 controller off ebay? No-one wants them these days though they are very easy to use if you have 'all martin' stuff and they are built like tanks, dead reliable..??
