It's the cheapest form of advertising!
I think it's ok - saves giving out cards if you display your contact number.
Many bands (look at the Beatles) put their name on the drums, etc.
And why not!

Who were the Beatles then? Were they big in your day? LOL

I don't like the ida of blanant advertising on your light boxes, as most of the time, especially when you have been around a while, you are actually working for the hotel, and as such I act and present myself as a member of staff, not a DJ who works here and there, I don't know your views and would be interested to hear them, but like I say I act as if I am a member of staff behind the DJ lights, unless it is a gig that I know the people who have booked me.

Thats ok if you have plenty of work, are happy to work in the one place, or it is the hotel policy (which happens)
I personally think any advertising is good advertising as otherwise you will be playing the same place forever!

You only have to look at product names on the equipment we buy - to realise advertising DOES work.
It's still a matter of opinion - we've all done it. Looked at the name on the product and decided to buy or not.
Take Skoda (please - the jokes are all thin and worn out!!!!) they seem to have turned around!
Look at the early 90's - Kenwood and Pioneer were the 'quality name' goods to buy.
But was Philips products all bad? Was Technics better as a name than B & O?
Doesn't matter - we recognise the name, logo or brandname - instantly. Millions are poured into slogan and logo advertising to get our attention.
What's the product - "A mint..."?
ok, what's the product......"A mint with a hole"?
So, unless you are a resident for an exclusive venue - and then you may only want your name to be known, why not advertise on the disco gear?
GO ON -SPLASH IT ON!!!!

But why has he got a chamber pot hanging from each end of his bar, or does he move so slowly nowadays that they plant them with Petunia's in season???
mikeee

I must sort out some piccies, with the lights on.
That particular was take at a resuarant in Dulwich Village.
The Chamber Pots are Chauvet "Bobs" and there are pairs of, Twister 4's, Chamleon 3's, and Chauvet Abyss's.
The Audio in that set up is CD Player's (always find them useful) Citronic 450 Mixer, C-Audio RA 3000 amp and a pair of Carlsbro Beta 115's.
If anyone knows the whereabouts of a pair of Beta 115's (300w) not the new 400w ones and or the original 300w bass cab's, I could be interested.

Why not record a few minutes of your roadshow on a camcorder and later capture the images you want on your PC.

I was going to find a picture until I saw all the roadshows together. Quite an impressive (expensive) set of photo's.
I am going to have to work on mine and spend some more cash if all roadshows look like that

We don't have a "mine is bigger than yours" philosophy on this forum

. I'm in the process of updating the photoshoot area's so now is the time to submit those pictures. Don't forget that you can also upload a personal picture in your profile within the "my controls" section.
Don't forget that a picture paints a 1000 words, so if you ever need advice on upgrading your lighting then with a picture, the membership can see and advise whereabouts you need an upgrade - if at all.
I'm assuming that you have some lighting at least?, and there is more to D.J'ing than flashing lights! (posted by a dealer of said items so it must be true!), so if you are getting the bookings then you must be doing something right.

The lighting stands most of you are using, is that a goalpost system? or are they the type with built in kind of stand and g/p system?
The reason I ask is because I want to purchase a new Operating area so to speak, but has to be very compact for travel. I am looking at a workspace of about 6ft across for my amps mixer, effects etc, also to rig about 10 lights on, from twisters to scanners.
Also, does anyone know where I can find someone who can paint or print with UV Paint? I want a taylor made canvas at the front which is uv reactive, makes a change from light screens.

Contact a local signwriter (Yellow pages) and simply supply your own UV paint

. Far cheaper than any specialised Stage supplier.

Thanks Chris, any suggestions for reasonably priced uv paint suppliers?
