Here are several programs (from Chris' hint in one of these topics) that i have tried or heard about:

Fruity Loops: A great program for making loops, kinda hard to get used to but still good once you find out @ Fruity Loops (demo version is a version you can't save with)

Audacity: A program great for editing, changing, mixing, and import/export mp3/wav/midi files. Still a freeware, and has a few bugs, but all minor @ Audacity

Traktor Dj Studio: A program with the exact fell as TTs/Cd Players for mixing from 1 song to another, full version MUCH better @ Traktor Dj Studio.

Native Instruments: The site that has Traktor AND MANY other products for PC users @ Native Instruments

Reason 2.0: Someone told me this program is good for synth/sequencer, but i will not link it because there is no free version and collides with Chris' policy on posting info about competitors.

Acid Pro: Same deal with Reason Just read the rules and warez aint allowed Sorry.. 014.gif //3GD

Ableton Live: Same deal with Reason

Cakewalk Website: Cakewalk This website HAS TONS of programs, just like native insturments, so check it out.

PCDJ: PC DJ Another website with several programs.

I will get more when i can. Hope that was a help. wacko.gif

anyways.....

the best prog in the world for MP3 organisation (tho its aimed mainly for apersonal market) is moodlogic. i dunno what the situation on linking to it is, as it is distributed by them only and could in no way affect custom to djsupplies i dont think, but i'll stay on the safe side. Its £30 for 20 000 songs or something i think. not bad. I use it to help do setlists as well - godsend!
DJ DarkNation
042.gif lol now that were back to the programs i got a nice little virtual turntables mixing program thats fun to play around wit. www.atomixmp3.com u can find the original atomix and the new virtual DJ, both great but with the virtual DJ being the latest one out it has more features.

I use Sound Forge for digital editing / looping / mixing / Eq'ing etc and find it very good. It's released by Sonic Foundry........
buck_rogers
Yeah i use winamp and have found it very good but now looking to go more onto the pro side for programmes has anyone used OtsDJ I ahve downloadeda trial version and it seems very good at mixing only prob is that for some reason it doesnt like all my mp3's and only imported 1271 out of 2532. Does anyone know why it does this and what type of mp3 i need to put them in to correct this problem.

Any help will be much aprreciated as always as this one has me well and truely stumped.

Matt
SteadFast
Hi Buck, OTS is the bees knees, some of your mp3s are probably Mpeg 1 Layer 2, OTS needs the mp3s to be MPeg 1 Layer 3. All you have to do is re-encode the tracks affected to MP3 with a modern encoder & OTS will play them no problem.
Instead of going for the full version of OTS I went for OTS Turntables Pro (worked out at £28) & it does everything a mobile DJ could need including the "save to wave" function so you can record all your mixes to cd. The full version of OTS is around the £200 mark but you'd only need that if you wanted to run your own radio station & incorporate jingles every 2 or 3 songs or broadcast over the internet.
Hope that helps...
buck_rogers
cheers steadfast managed to get it sorted by converting them all through winamp.

Matt

Ots version 2.0 also beatmixes for you too.
I have had it for about three years and cannot fault it.
eswmartin
Hi Andy..

Please tell me where to get OTS 2.0 I had no idea beatmixing has been around on it so long ! Can't believe ive been missing out.
Digital discos
I think he meant OTS DJ 2.0 will beatmix for you. To be honest though I'm very sceptical about something that will beatmix for you. I mean surely one type of mixing won't fit all...............

He has had OTS DJ (1.0) for 3 years.
jackcu
Just thought I'd pitch in - I've been using Atomix for about 3 years - I've never had a problem with it. It beatmixes really well, although I rarely use the feature due to the type of gigs I do.

I've been thinking about moving to VirtualDJ (the newer version) but I can't really see the point.

I've tried Ots and PCDJ but can't see why I would change - Ots didn't beatmix last time I demo'd it and is much more expensive and I wasn't that keen on PCDJ for reasons I can't remember LOL.

The only drawback with Atomix is that in order to get the beat and volume correct (I use it to normalise on the fly) you have to play a big chunk of the song first for it to be added to the database - you can't just point it at the directory like you can with Ots and get the software to add everything.

Having said that, it's no big deal as I obviously play songs a few times before playing them live. It is only ever a problem if I move files around - it loses track of them in the database and has to "start again".

Anyone have any suggestions - have you used it or are there new features on the other programs? I work in IT during the day so I always like to stick with what I know and only ever upgrade if there is a feature I really need.

Cheers,

Jack.
