Are you joking andrew? You dont need a lawyer... a very simple "putting your terms" down on paper is sufficient... any agreement written/verbal constitutes a contract mate.... Just for ease, it is better to get it all done in writing... but you dont need to be paying a lawyer for something so very basic!
Steve
True, a contract can be verbal although I'd definately recomend a written especially considering what has previously happened. I dont know many dj's 'seeing their lawyer!' for such a situation as this.

All you need for a contract is an invitation to treat (the phone call is enough as it shows interest), an offer (offering you the work on the agreed date and times, etc), and consideration (the £120 fee and you offering your services to the night club). So just get that written up and add any specific conditions and you always then have something to rely on

Lawyer / Solicitor is good - but way OTT for something like this. Standard Contracts can be drawn up using your PC (& Spell checker) by anybody. Simply detail the agreements and obligations of both parties, and then both sign it. It can be made binding by simply adding:-

I agree to abide by the terms & conditions of the above contract for the period of 12 Months from the date below:-

............................ Artiste (For Joe Bloggs Roadshow)

............................. Venue Manager (For Lionels Bar)

on this day:- ................... (Date)

And thats it smile.gif

Simply write out a word document or letterhead with the terms of both parties and sign, then each keep a copy!)

Feel free to cut and paste (Some people are good at doing that!) the above and add it to your own document, and I've saved you £50 at your solicitors!.

There are now even ready made legal packs for agreements, small claims, partnerships, divorce etc etc available from Partners / WH Smith etc which will still cost you less than a tenner!.
