Hi All,

What is the one song you can't do a gig with out playing? What Song stands out? And what song do you guys normally finish a night on?

A friend of mine finishes with the neighbours theme tune....sounds crazy.....but it works i have seen it wacko.gif

Thanks

Your question could start a 'djunited members music top 40 chart'............?

Anyway, up until recently, it had been Mambo No# 5 and Reach - Sclub7 - typical requests at Weddings, Corporate, etc.

I remember when Oops up 'Side your Head was all the rage years ago smile.gif

I suppose that one of the most common 'tracks' would be New York, New York 014.gif

I finish my night of with......Faith of the Heart..the track from Star trek enterprise. works well for me had a few interesting comments as to where people can get it.......

but it good and works well for me.

Year's ago ? 1981 , LOL around here its still just as popular esp , with us "Older" DJ's , but ya gotta get the girl with the short skirt sitting at the front ..

The funniest bit is the end when all the oldies ?? try and get up off the floor 221.gif

Our ending song for the last year has been ,

Cheerio by DJ Otzi

Forgot to shave this morning??????????????????

I finsh on the tv theme to Dangerman, thats got you, unless your over 50.
OK KARAOKE
Depends on the gig, age and personal tastes of the guests/organisers but yes, if it`s party time; Reach, Tragedy, Raining Men, Oops Upside, Saturday Night/Macarena, Follow Da Leader - all the usual.
I like to end with...Grease Megamix - (during the lulls I say my quick thanx & tatty-byes), and just as they`re all joining in the end "those su-u-mmer ni-ights...." I hit New York New York. Same key and starts on the note the other one finishes. So then they get a final knees-up followed by a real slow smooch (or two) while I unplug stuff.
Also, I usually try and knock off all my brightest lights on the last note of New York New York. It`s effective and shows that I really men "Goodnight", so any more will be a bonus smile.gif

I never like to finish on a slow song, how boring.

My end of nighter is Sham Rock - Tell Me Ma - can't lose. Of course then you get the comments such as 'How refreshing to finish on a fast song rather than a slow one"

Also get's rid of those awful moments at the end when your slow song fades away and everyone just stands there thinking "ok"

Another good tune for a slow song is Yanou - Heaven, the woman who sang on the DJ sammy track, she did a slow tune, it's cool.

As one of the sad old dj's I usually finish on a mid-tempo slowie, more oftern than not Stand By Me by Ben E King.

Altho' I sometimes finish with New York New York or Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life if they are a Party crowd.

To stop the hanging about waiting for more I tend to use one of the jingles on the mastermix series, which says something like, 'for being a great audience etc...'

They usually get the message after that. biggrin.gif
Ian Stewart
I like to finish on a sing a long style anthem

I play to a lot of soul fans so Lamont Dozier - Why Can't We Be Lovers is a preferred fav,

but if a normal pop gig,

Time of my life - Bill Medley
Daydream Believer - Monkees

that sort of thing

But Lamont is me fav
The Spindoctor
I always use Real Thing - you to me are Everything, but it has to be the 12" version........... the instrumental break in the middle is ideal for saying your goodnights fab crowd etc.
