Nothing to detailed here - just two choices.
Either you do or don't!
Are the knobs and switches idle on the equipment - or do you use them, be it often, all the time or occasionally!
Your examples, comments and 'fx' examples welcome.

No... thats the short answer! However, if I am involved in a raffle I often use some of the sound effects off the dj box set... raffles are sooooo boring so it lightens things up a bit!

Im now 99% mobile for hotel and corporate functions and I make good use of such features regularly eg several times a night, where I descern that their use will enhance, rather than diminish the audiences overall enjoyment, and/or make things run smoother through the night.
Examples: Seamless loops...your audience will enjoy a 5min version of "Dancing Queen" instead of the usual 3min 30secs one...so loop it; The bride and groom signal that theyll be ready for their first record in 30 seconds, then Great Auntie Ethel accosts them on their way to the floor~with the end of the last song looped, or the beginning of their "first" dance looped...their song will wait for them to be ready, with no gaps. Also some gigs need more (and/or longer) voice overs than others..loops give you as long an instrumental break as you need, either at the beginning, middle, or end of an tune.
Flange , delay and filter effects ...good if used sparingly and with variety...not just left on for the entire record (or all night)
Mic pitch effects....liven up the managing directors speech by turning him into a Chipmunk for a few seconds...he normally appreciates the room waking up to laugh. Good for announcing Communards or BeeGee records too.
