Hi All

Would welcome a bit of advice. Got the following list through for a wedding I'm doing in a couple of weeks time:

1. David Bowie – “Magic Dance” (middle of night)
2. Foo Fighters – “Everlong”
3. Cheryl Cole – “Fight for this Love”
4. Gnarls Barkley – “Crazy”
5. Seal – “Kiss from a Rose” (Slow one for later in evening?)
6. Sheryl Crow – “All I Wanna Do”
7. The Hoosiers – “Worried About Ray”
8. The Police – “Every Breath You Take”
9. U2 – “Beautiful Day”
10. Elton John – “Circle of Life” (One I’d really like, but realise is quite slow, so thinking perhaps near end of the night to wrap up / wind down??)

The potential issue I have is that I will going straight into full-on dancing (hopefully) off the back of the first dance due to a late start so there is not much chance of dealing with any of the slowies early doors. I can probably deal with one at the end of the night, although not really sure how EJ's track will fare, but just wondered how you guys usually handle dealing with a lot of slowie requests. From my contact with the bride I get the feeling that whittling them down may not be an option. Any thoughts?

P.S Anyone ever tried this Bowie track - worried it's gonna bomb!

Cheers

I had this one on a bride's list a couple of weeks ago. I was concerned it wouldn't go down well but, apparently, it meant something to her friends and was well received.

I avoid at all costs playing slow ones later in the evening.

Why not play the slow ones before the first dance as background music.

Or if you get any dead spots during the evening when nobody is dancing that's also a good time to squeeze in the unusual.

If asked why I'm playing certain dodgy tunes I always explain that it was specified by the B&G or one of the punters insisted on it .

I'm always happy to play request lists from B&G but always reserve the right to their timing. I've never had a problem playing the slow ones and the rubbish as background music prior to the dancing kicking off.

The Bowie track is from the film Labyrinth and, as a Bowie hater, it is awesome!!!

Surely the Elton John would work as the penultimate or final dance - everyone make a circle around the Bride & Groom - hands in the air - epic!
