Prince says the internet is dead... read more here

Now I wonder, if other 'stars' are set to follow suit?

Interesting read.

I did read that there was talk of a musician / artist strike in the US over piracy of their music.
Could this be the first steps towards it I wonder?

The Film industry did it a few years ago with the writers going on strike.

Why would this stop piracy though. the beatles never released to mp3 but you can (from what ive heard) download anything they have ever recorded.

With all the little record companies and 1 hit wonder artists these days the internet wont die, its far too valuable for them.

if an artist went back to sellng cd singles only they wouldn't make half as much. record shops are in short supply these days and consumers are too lazy to actually go out to shop. also the likes of Tesco will start dictating how much they will pay for music just like they do with milk etc

thats my opinion

What better way to promote your new album though
