Guy's with the "demise" of record shops and vinyl, and the new ways in which the uk charts are worked out, what are you doing for your chart music? ie are you not bothering with the charts? are you downloading all some, none of the charts? or what? I really do not know the best way forwar anymore, Yes I was suppossed to be giving up last year, for those who remember my last post, but things change and too many people do not want me to knock it just yet, so my question is what to do about the charts, am I just an old git are are they not as good as they used to be? ta for now, Scuddmann xx

the charts suck IMO and the constant release of factory pop song after pop song is quite an issue. When you factor in the illegal file sharing sites etc, competing in the younger market is a very expensive hobby. I do quite a few school disco's and proms and its the latest chart stuff i need as well as the radio releases.

The now cds are great but too late. Last release was easter and the next wll be in august i think and most of the tracks are current chart hits.

i spent a lot on itunes last year and often got caught out if i didnt refresh my collection on a weekly basis, so this year i have subscribed to CD Pool radio and hits. I get 40 tracks a month for £25, with the radio release being what it is, radio release only. A hits cd follows the radio disc 2 weeks later and that gives me the majority of the top 40 every month. One or two popular tracks skip throught the net like dizee rascals dirtee disco, it will appear on the june hits cd but i bought that on itunes anyway.

The biggest benefit is that i have a physical disc to sell when i retire as opposed to an large capacity of worthless data. as far as i know you cant resell itunes music.

hope this helps

It's becoming difficult to remain a CD DJ. A few years ago CD compilation albums were released every month or so. NOW series only comes out 3 times a year in March, July and November. That's fine but not quite frequent enough.
