Hi,
I have bought a new Amplifier as my Peavey one finally gave up on me. I'm not sure wether or not to have it repaired. Channel 1 of my PV1500 doesnt work unless you crank the music up really loudly. Then sometimes it crackles and comes back on and goes off again.

Anyways moving on......

I have bought a new amp :

Specifications :

A Brooke branded Power Amplifier ideal for medium power full range systems. Rated up to 2x750w at 4ohms. For 19" rackmount to a standard 2U height. Fitted with 3-pin Female XLR and ¼" jack socket. With Linear power supply and reservoir capacity technology, it utilises annular transformers for minimal distortion when running close to maximum power and is relatively lightweight. High visibility front panel LCD screen provides setup information, level settings etc. Memory facility for last setting recall. Electronic variable gain twin front panel controls. LED status indicators. Excellent cooling system for internal temperature control and amplifier stablity. Anti-clipping audio circuitry and DC output protection circuits help protect connected loudspeakers. Casing features integral rackmount ears.

My brochure says : 2 x 450 Watts RMS at 8 Ohms
2 x 750 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms

Another feature I like is the volume controls are digital so no dry connections ever, it has an LCD screen and you can also adjust your equalisation on the menu settings.

I have never heard of Brooke before, I can't find many other people online who have had experience with any Brooke equipment. Has anyone else ? Are they a reliable brand ?

I am thinking of going back and buying another one. It would be good to have 2 matching amps.

Any opinions and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Brooke are an in-house brand of the Solutions Group, they also import speakers under the same brand..they are a chinese budget range.

So not a good brand then ? Just that I have never heard of them before, but the Amp seems to have a good spec and sounds great too.

So long as you're happy with it, thats ok! I've never taken one apart, so can't comment on what they're like inside.

Maybe you can write up you impressions of it after a few gig's worth of experience for the forum!

The Peavey fault will just be a bad connection.

I've checked the connections on the PCB etc. But am having it repaired. I have been told it will cost about £80 to repair.

The Brooke Amp seems to be a very good amp. It never gets hot, not even warm which is something I have never seen in an Amp before.
I will post some pics and review after I have used it a few more times :)
