I have more or less turned this down flat due to all the obvious reasons but i thought i would ask for some info anyway as the guy is a bit gutted
I was asked to do a pool party in my local leisure complex, and i mean pool party. The wanted me to setup poolside (not outdoor) with sound system and big lighting rig
Hmmmm.
All that electrical equipment + Watet + Humidity sounds like a proper recipe for disaster.
They thought the idea was very unique and they dont know of anybody else doing this kind of thing....no suprises there eh.
I suggested the only way i would consider the gig is to sit upstairs in the cafe (complete isolation from the pool with large glass windows) with the lights shining thru the windows and an old pair of battered speakers that i have laying about on the 'staff only' stairs that leads from the cafe to the pool.
I have encountered enough problems in the winter taking gear from the cold van into hot and humid venues and this would be 10 times worse.
Any ideas other than 'sorry i can't won't do it'

I personally wouldn't do it either as water and electricity don't mix.

Isn't there just this reason why there are no mains sockets to be found pool-side!
I'm sure it would break many Health & Safety rules.... Just imagine doing a risk assessment on that...

those DVD's are well worth a visit - cringeingly (?) funny - but you can usually see something of Gordon in most people you deal with who run venues.....i see it in myself occasionally.....
