I'd check them in the flesh first to make sure you're happy with the brightness/build quality etc!

I just bought this an am very happy with it, comes with free bag and controller and all leads etc. Very bright and build quality appears to be great. More expensive than the ones you are talking about however.

More from the fact to check you're happy with the brightness etc!

It looks like the 10mm LED version, which should be OK - but again you don't know what the brightness of the LEDs are like, and comparing them to slightly more expensive types, etc.

I see they do a 1w LED version of the same unit.. which may be better!

I'm also advising, cos I wish I'd never bought some other brand LED par cans where RGB all at 100% isn't anywhere near white! :/

Looking at replacing them with something better - and slim floor "cans" look a bit different and take up a lot less space too!

Cheers,

David

I can agree with DJMickeyK on this one, they are nice and bright and seem to be of the usual acme quality. I dont have any but have seen them in the flesh and played with them at Phase One. A bit more expensive but you do get everything you need.

having had numerous ledj par 64 cans i wont touch their products again.

Thanks for the info so far guys I have a QTX smoke machine that is very very good so I think the lights might be good also. I just wondered if anyone on here had seen them working.

"As with all LED wash lights, a tightly-packed array of different coloured LEDs provide the Slimline PAR64 LED's light source. A total of 168 10mm LEDs (60 red, 54 green and 54 blue) are used for each fixture, which generate as bright an output as any other LED Par I've tried - and I've tried quite a few! "

It seems that most people say that the 10mm LEDs give out more power than the 5mm ones.

BTW I found the other ones mentioned for a lower price of £299 but incure a delivery charge of £10 so a £5 saving lol Link

Any more help or advice very welcomed.

A few months ago we did an install that required 8 led par cans. The bar owner was rather concerned that his installation didnt look like a theatre ceiling; so I recommended to my partner that we install the slimline ones rather than the short-nose par for the course (pun intended) type as seen everywhere. My partner went to a local DJ show where they were demonstrating the slimline ones and came away very disappointed indeed; poor quality and not too bright. (the brand shall remain nameless but they are the most popular type as sold by a large catalogue distributor). In the end we recommended the Chauvet LED-rain units which were brighter all round and despite being chrome short-nose units managed to keep the bar owner happy.

As people have often said before, never take a youtube video as gospel when it comes to a light's performance! See it for yourself in a shop or at a pub, webcams tend to exaggerate the brightness of lighting.

Yes I understand this with auto iris kicking in and opening the aperture or even boosting the digital signal but the video quality remains pretty good through out the video. So I don't think the video is being ramped to much.

I have a shop local that sells these so will be going to have a look see next week all being well. But I need then for next Thursday got a big yearly fashion show for a local college and want to add to my lighting collection before then. Trying to move away from par cans and onto LEDs.

But still interested in any comment from people who have actually used them in anger..

Hi guys

Just an update. I went to the local disco shop and tried out the LEDJ Slimline 229 I am very impressed with it and purchased one from the store to try at home (they are cheaper on line but I hate to use a disco store to try and not purchase from them if I like the product. if we all did that they would soon all close down lol). The construction is very rugged indeed and the 10mm leds are protected behind purspex so no problems with getting the individual LEDs damaged.

It has a neat bracket design so it can be used on a bar or floor standing with out any other mounting required. It is very bright (much brighter than my other PAR 56 LED lights) and gives out quite a narrow beam (25 Degrees on box) which I want as will be using it for stage lighting as well as some uplighting duties. On the back it has a DMX in and out 3pn and a mains in and link out of the standard kettle three pin variety.

The lights are RGBA the A is for amber and is used for colour balance if your using the lights via DMX to warm the light as most RGB lights have a bluish tinge when trying to create white. When in stand alone sound to light mode the amber is a nice addition to the Red Green & Blue mixes we are used to with traditional REG LED's

If your in the market for some LED lams these are well worth a look.

Thanks for all the help above and I hope that this has maybe helped some others decide on what fixtures to get.

Any questions ask away and if I can answer it I will.

Spec on the box
