Im looking to buy a pair of led lights to go with my pair of impossibled's. Initially I was planning to get a pair of miracled's but as the coverage of the impossibled's is so vastI think miracleds might be too much. So, flr variety Im thinking of getting a pair of dynamo led's. I know they are not as bright as the impossibleds but they would add a bit of movement and variety. Does anyone have any exerience of these lights or any other ideas. Criteria Im looking for is LED, light, and under £200 for a pair. Cheers, Mark.

Hi Mark

For an extra £50 you can pick up a pair of 250w dynamo scanners, which as far a your criteria goes fails miserably but they are a nice bright effect.

Why led? Are you looking for cool running, low power consumption etc

I use 2 datamoons and 2 250 dynamo's as standard now and am very happy with the effect, hot but nice

Dave

Ps let me know if you get the arriba 145's for your par cans and that they are right so i can get some too.

cheers

If you want LED scanners have a look at the GVG lighting website. They have single mirror LED scanners for £99 each.

They also have LED barrel scanners. I haven't seen the prices for those.

hi guys, thanks for the suggestions! I alreadh have a pair of Datamoons and I had some 250w scanners, but it was the weight of them and the cost of bulbs that made me think about going all-led. I agree the halogen effects ard probably better, but as I work on my own these days the low weight of the Led lights is a major plus. im selling my hardly used Datamoon kit if anyone is interested? So if you had a pair of impossibleds, what lights would go wdll with them? Cheers, Mark.

Im now thinking of maybe going for a pair of Miracleds to go with the Impossibleds, but using the CA-8 controller so I can alternate between them so they are not too overpowering - do you think that would look ok?

Dave, re flightcases for the Par 64's, Ive decided to pack them individually and I think the AC-125 would be the best case. I need a air of these anyway for my Impsosibleds, so I will try the Par 64's in them and if they are ok will but another pair. I'll let you know how they look when they arrive, but they are out of stock at the moment so it might be a couple of weeks.

Cheers, Mark.

Having had a miracled i must say the miracleds have a very wide spread but not too great on height if you know what i mean. IMO they are more suited as a centre light and 2 units competing will be a bit ott, especially with the impossibleds. I have been there and done that with LED lighting and soon got bored of red blue and green dots - i was warned by certain forum members.

something with movement is your best option and if you can stretch (almost double) the budget Acme Genesis led Scanners are pretty nice. Led based scanner but with proper gobo etc clicky

thanks for the heads up on the case situation

cheers
Dave

Not having a go or anything Dave, but does it matter if you get bored with the lights? Surely it's what the punters think that matters, I have a few datamoons and am considering switching to LED's for the reasons Mark is, weight and no bulbs etc. While I realise the effects can get boring if you are standing behind them 2-3 nights per week and they are doing the same thing, it's new to the client every time (unless it's a residency). I like the idea of a low maintenance LED with no bulbs etc to worry about, although I must say the Datamoons are terrific lights.

Out of interest, does anyone know how the LED dynamo brightness compares to the 100w and 250w versions? I did have 100w dynamos before but was not happy with the brightness - are the LED versions likely to be brighter or less bright than the 100w versions?

All the vids look good on Youtube, but as has been said before, they are usually filmed in ideal conditions with haze and smoke - and it is not clear how good they would look in a "real life" situation (ie, no smoke, not 100% dark etc).

Any comments appreciated, cheers, Mark.

I see your point and you are right, we see them on a weekly basis and to the punters its fresh everytime. I just found that they were limited on what they could do. You can slow the datamoons down and set the gobo with the controller for slow dances etc but the led lights were kind of on or off - no middle ground. I still use a pair of invicibleds instead of a lazer, which i put on the floor and project upwards to fill ceilings. I also had a venue where i couldnt use led fixtures as one of the regular clients suffered from epilepsy quite severly, which i set of one night with the miracled - not nice.

I will consider more led fixtures when they release a full range of sensibly priced gobo based units and to be honest a small led t bar rig would be beneficial for some of my regular venues where space, power and setup time is limited.
