Hi Lads, Im after your opinions on what you would use on an overhead bar on a 4ft deckstand: Just after you thoughts for a general gig lets say a 40th birthday for example,

What lights I have to choose from are:

2 x Abstract XP5's
2 x NJD Datamoons
2 x Acme Rovers
4 x Acme Winners
1 x Abstract Moonray
1 x Cluster Laser

I also have £250 put aside for another fixture but i don't know what to go for, I already have 10 LED Par 64's I use for uplighting.

So what would you put up and what would you buy extra (not much of a budget I know).

Cheers

Phil.

If it was me....on a 4ft bar on say a giraffe stand i would use 2 winners , 2 datamoons and a cluster laser if it was a ultimax etc i would use more fixtures.

I would dmx them up as too many fixtures sound to light can just look a crazy fast show... I would buy this new cluster gobo type laser

Equinox Atria Laser

by the way this post seems familiar lol kid.gif

Same as Robstars suggestion - don't overload the overhead.

4 fixtures would be fine, with your cluster laser pointing at the ceiling. For a 40th, it will really depend on the crowd. With a young/up for it crowd, then you can use scanners. For a bit more subdued crowd, then try to keep most of the lighting on the dance-floor only (moon flowers etc).

I've seen the following in the flesh, and are a good effect;

These can be had for £70ea, but do need their own controller (the controller has DMX-in, but the tubes have their own non-dmx connections)

If you don't have cases for your existing lights, then perhaps they would be a better investment.

Otherwise... keep the cash for a rainy day!

I put 2 datamoons and 2 acme 250w dynamo scanners on my 4' giraffe over head and wouldnt put anything else up unless its a lightweight led fixture (have 2 acme invicibileds)

With the current smoke/haze situation i would be tempted to look at a pair of led panel type effects. That would give you some flooding without taking the par cans out. The par 64's are too big for a small overhead IMO anyway
