Hi guys,
I have a EVL
Pro scan 250 & pro star 250 & both lights are currently run in sound to light mode via the built in mic. Sadly the units are too sensitive and just seem to stay in one place all the time, when they should be moving around a lot more, I have seen what they can do by running the programs on them but obviously these do not go with the music..
So i am wondering if anyone can suggest a controller that will make the most of these lights, evl do a mico controller which i would consider but i definately dont want a full size controller because i have enough to do during gigs already,
so can anyone suggest a good one (Lights are 8 channel dmx)
Many thanks!
Dania the same dmx controller>

If they're too sensitive (music too loud), have you trie putting something over the microphone opening at all, bit of cotton wool or tape over might help?

Cheers,

EVL's own controllers are by far the best solution to these lights if you can find one, simple and very effective with excellent sound to light programmes.

I've programmed pro stars into generic DMX lighting desks and they are a right pain due to the number of channels they take up.

Cheers superstardeejay!!!

I Have seen their micro controller (One you have used?) & it looks really basic but if that will do it ill go for that, just hope they are still availible, EVL are not answering their phone @ lighting support..

Anyway ill keep trying, to the previous reply, yes i did try masking the mic but that did not solve it, although near the mic there is a small potentiometer to adjust sensitivity, but still does not work well, with some hope the evl controller will make full use of the light & thus enable them to work as they should, otherwise they will be hitting ebay sad.gif

Thanks guys

Potentially the pot could be dirty or have a dodgy solder joint. But if it happens to *both* of them, then I guess even set to "0" its still not very good sad.gif

Yes, Ive used both the plastic ones with large purple buttons (essentially as sold with MAD effects) and the larger metal one with foot switches which is almost the same thing.
The internal programmes are quite varied and the sound to light is the best on the market as it can tell the difference between slow and fast songs and change programmes to suit. Ive seen 2 in use at quite large nightclubs and they cope with very loud music indeed.
They also have user overrides to blackout, strobe and force slow or fast modes by hand.

Brilliant!
Sounds ideal to me, i really dont wanna be carrying much more to gigs but at present these potentially great lights are hardly doing anything because the movements are very short and quick, meaning they dont move accross the dance floor, also the colour wheel just jumps between 2 colors (pink and green) im pretty sure ita all due to the crap sound to light built in - the lights actually came with something like a 8 or 10 channel dmx controller with faders on but it was so nackered i just took the lights as they were..
Today i called EVL to try and get a micro controller and although they no longer sell them because they are now focussing on LED lights, they said they would check if there were any and get right back to me, sadly they have not as yet so im really hoping they will soon as i am using the lights on the 4th june... Dont suppose you have one for sale do ya? Anyone else???
Anyway glad to making some progress...
THANKS AGAIN, I APPRCIATE ALL YOUR HELP & COMMENTS

Mmm I happen to know a venue that had a rig of EVLs..but, as they are EVL they didnt really last very long in daily use! So they had the controller left over, I'll ask them if they want to part with it if you like, next time I go to do maintenance...providing its still bolted to the console as it used to be.

I use an EVL Micro controller for the EVL spins. A very good bit of kit.

I am not making much progress in getting a controller anytime soon... sad.gif
Can you tell me if the sound to light on this micro controller is adjustable or is it fixed? Bit concerned that after all the hassle of getting one it may not be the solution for these lights - has anyone used it with EVL scanners?
