Has anyone seen or used one of the fold out DJ stations you can get? They are made by Total Impact for about £130, and a KAM version for about £180.

The idea is that you carry the stand folded into a square shape, and it folds out with a large surface to put your mixer etc, and a smaller shelf underneath.

It looks like it would be even easier to transport and set up than the my 4' Kam Stand, but unfortunately I do not have any local suppliers who stock them for me to look at.

I would rather not buy one blind, so I was hoping that someone might have some advice as to whether they are any good, and if there is much difference between the KAM version and Total Impact version.

Cheers, Mark.

The KAM one looks really good, I've been eyeing it up for some time but it seems to be permanently outof stock everywhere.

I have to say kam cases are very good quality but i have not seen a stand in the flesh either.

Im off to my local shop soon and will see if he has one on display - he lists them as 1-2 days on his website

Anybody got a link to the KAM one??

I found them both on disco-world dot co dot uk.

The KAM one has a cut out (but come with a metal cover), other than that they look very similar otherwise.

KAM promotes the the hole could be used for a fog machine... Although if you've got an amp on the shelf, not sure where its gonna go :)

If you dont need uprights/overhead bar, then this is almsot better than the base of a a giraffe/equivalent frame and also you don't need a star cloth either..

Slightly longer worktop length, but narrower foot print (900mm / 3ft). Depending how much "crap" you need to hide underneath/in it :)

The only Con I see is that there's less width to hide your (dancing) legs :)

Cheers,

David

Looks really good. Anyone know if it will take the full weight of a filled flight case? Would it 'wobble' under the weight?

I think these things would wobble.. 9mm ply with no serious bracing?

Not sure if the lower shelf would take the weight of an amp+flightcase?
Would be fine for those on Active speakers and fairly light playback.

edit: They do look handy - Robster's link could be a nice neat solution (no wacking great hole in the front unlike the Kam version- so may not require a starcloth)

The majority of the time I use an active system, so I have a fairly lightweight set-up which is why this appeals to me. The reason I like the hole in the KAM version is that it gives me the smoke machine option, but can also help to keep leads/cables tidy, which I always find difficult. And, if need be it can always be covered with a starcloth/banner.
