Professional Mobile Disco & Wedding Disco
P.I.J. Roadshow
Have been booked for a Wedding at the end of June and have already had the consultation meeting with the bride and groom, who are getting married abroad and having a party fro friends and family when they get back. Personally I am looking forward to this gig as it gives me a chance to play alot of stuff I rarely or have never played. I am aware of the potential problem it may cause with other guests, but they have not been selfish and also stated they would like music to suite their guests taste, so hopefully I can find a happy medium. I have done a gig similar to this a few years back and it went without a hitch.

Here's the list see what you think (They are not expecting every single song by each artist)

Beatles - Please Please Me
Beach Boys - Surfin USA, Sloop John B
Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar
David Bowie - Modern Love, Let's Dance, Rebel Rebel, Jean Genie
Blondie

Depeche Mode
The Cure - Love Song
Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy

Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, Teddy Picker, Fluorescent Adolescent
Blink 182
The Cortinas - What Took You So Long, Nineteen Forever
The Cribs - Men's Needs
Foo Fighters - Everlong, My Hero

Queens Of The Stoneage
Garbage
Green Day
Linkin Park - What I've Done
Smashing Pumpkins - Today

Kings Of Leon - Molly's Chamber, California Waiting (Earlier Stuff)
White Stripes
Muse
Kasabian
Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle Emptiness

Stereophonics - (First Album)
Feeder - Buck Rogers
Morrissey
The Smiths
The Strokes

Happy Mondays
Stone Roses
James
Suede
Pulp - Something Changed
Goo Goo Dolls - Iris (Possibly First Dance)

some more run of the mill requests:-
Motown
Abba
Irish Music (Some Irish people in attendance)
Lady GaGa
Pink
Beyonce
Madonna
Rihanna

They don't mind stuff like Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams, but only want grease if requested

However they have stated do not play
Build Me Up Buttercup
Stuck In The Middle With You
Any Blues Brothers
Brown Eyed Girl
Dancing In The Moonlight
Britney Spears
Take That

They are a really pleasant couple, but after reading a few posts on here about whinging guests I am just a little apprehensive there is going to be that know it all that will complain and make life difficult, not appreciating that the customer has specifically requested a great deal of the music that they want for their special day.

I did a similar wedding a couple of years ago but the Bride and Groom had general party music upto the buffet then moved over to their music list for the rest of the evening.
I had never played that style of music but was surprised how well it was received.

Interesting list..

It is frighteningly similar to a playlist for a recent wedding I did.

I may be wrong, but I put it down to the profile of the couple and guests which were all late twenties, ex University types who listened more to fringe music rather than clubbing stuff (no money and lots of homework!)

Apart from the parents etc they were all a bit up their own ... and indeed reslished the non-standard stuff, clearly recollecting their earlier times together.

Hmmm.
