I have just had my full pa rig out for the first time properly and used a bit of guestimation for the crossover settings.
I had both channel gains on 0, crossover freq set at 120 hz the LF level at -3 and the HF level at -3. This was set by ear and am wondering if this is how its supposed to be done.
whats the correct way to balance these settings along with the amp settings.
I had a kam kxr 2000 driving a pair of 4 ohm peavey hisys 115xt bass bins and a kam kxr 1500 driving a pair of 8ohm peavey hisys 2's
as the amps are a bit ott i dont run them flat out, which many say you should, but i do run them high with the mixer dialled back.
I was amazed at the sound quality and the deep bass thump. Ok its not as good as many modern setups but it does the job and with an eq added into the chain it will be even better.
cheers

This all sounds fine to me Dave, the gains will be tweaked to your own taste, the room and the type of speakers, 120hz is a good rule of thumb initial setting as well.

I cross my speakers over at 120/130 Hz but I have to increase the gain to my bins or slightly decrease gain to my tops otherwise I find the sound unbalanced.
I run an NJD speaker system powered by 2 identical pulse amps and believe I have been told that the 15" drivers in my bins need more power than the 12" tops.
Either that or i've got really inefficient speakers lol
