I am looking for free software to convert my mix mash discs in to mpeg format.can any one help

Lots of DVD rippers out there. Some free ones require tweaking and some manual work, also MPEG may not be the best format.
Are you actually allowed to do this? The Terms on the MixMash site;
The COPY aspect would mean to me that you are not allowed to rip, or even create a back-up copy.
