Does anyone know the name of the white moving head search light which is about £20 to buy, I have been asked to reproduce a wartime black out feel for a wwii event and do not fancy spending £2000 on Chinise seach lights! It's a charity do, so low fee! I have seen these cheap lights before but can't find them now.

Cheers Chris

No, i've seen them on e-bay a while back, may even be skytech it's a primitive box stand with a single moving head white light.

Found them , but still not got a makers name on them.

Ah that's not a moving head searchlight, its a bit like the things they use for movie premiers at Leicester Square.

I think what you want is a pinspot scanner!

This is a moving head searchlight

I used to use these in the 1980's they were just called scanners then. One of the very first moving head lighting effects available for the mobile DJ.....

Used to use them on a bar of 4, with a bulgin connection, so you could also chase them with a standard 4-channel chaser. Bulgin and an IEC lead (as they scanned left and right even though no light came out of them.

Ahh Bulgin leads, screens, spot banks and stuff all off the one 600w per channel controller....

Yes the original bulgin connectors where you had live pins on one end if you had plugged it into the controller first.

I never thought about that until the new nancy boy ones came out lol... And I never once got a shock.

Ahhhhh the good old days the pups of today dont know their born lol.....

Yep plugs on all leads, sockets on all the devices/equiment....

Never got a shock either, apart from looking at how some had been wired up! Mind you they're not the easiest thing to wire up, getting all the wire-lengths exactly right...

I'm sure some of it was wired with 8-core "trailer" cable (Max: 50v DC/AC!)... ! (8A/5A a core though).

Cheers,

David
