Hi Guys,

As you may know from my previous postings, Im getting back into the mobile disco business after a bit of a break. I've now got my first two confirmed bookings, one of which is a 35th birthday, and the other is an 18th birthday (girl).

Im not too worried about the 35th, as that is a similar age to me so I think I know the sort of thing that will be required, and Ive got a fairly decent music collection now.

However, Im a little nervous about the 18th - although Ive recently bought loads of CD's, Im not really sure what will be requested. Obviously I have spoken to the customer (the mother) who advised they will have a range of age groups there, and Ive asked that the birthday girl emails me a list of songs she likes so I can ensure her favourite songs are played. Not had a response yet.

However, can anyone let me know any "most requested" songs for 18th birthday parties. I was thinking of things like Cascada, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce etc - does this sound right, which particular songs ggo down well, and what else do I need to have?

I've probably over-analysed this a bit, but Im one of these people who likes to be fully prepared, and would hate to not have any must-have songs that go down well at 18th birthday's.

Thanks in advance!

Mark

I did an 18th recently and played mainly top 40 tracks, recent and from the last few months.

Hi Mark,
Best bet is to chase up the birthday girl - perhaps she's still compiling her list - at least find out if she has any preferences if she isn't going to provide one.

If info is not forthcoming, then the last few "NOW" CDs and the current chart hits with the normal party music should be ok.
They could be into lots of different things - I've done a 21st where she wanted cheese all night, and a 50th where he wanted ClubLand stuff. It sounds like you're doing the right thing, and I hope they appreciate that you're making the effort.

I do find the "The Top 60 Dance Tracks A Mobile Disc Jockey Must Have" very useful, so advise making sure you've got most of these.

Cheers!

I've posted an 18th playlist in the playlists thread mate.

Your welcome to have a look.

See my post number 108, on page 6 of the playlist thread as I mentioned above. Make it a bit easier for you to find.

Thanks Jason,

That list of 60 "must have" dance songs is really useful. I checked last nigth and I already have most of them, and will try and fill the gaps before my first gigs.

Thanks Gary,

Had a look at your playlist - again really useful. It seems that the general format is to start off with the newer stuff, and move towards the clasic 70s/80s/ party tunes towards the end of the night.

I would imagine this is what the 18th Im doing will want as they have stressed there is a range of age groups there.

The gig is not until May, but I will make sure I write back to let you know how it goes.

Cheers, Mark.
