Im thinking about getting either a Behringer PMP3000 or a KAM KMD20 powered mixer and some NJD Celestion 600w Birch ply speakers.

But dont know if the powered mixers are any good?

Also how do you change from 4ohm to 8ohm ? or is it automatic ?

Because am i right in saying that the lower ohm the more Wattage you can achieve ?

Thanks in advance

Brad

powered mixers are alright would be better to use an amp and a separate mixer...
what are you using it for?

the change from 4 ohm to 8 ohm will be automatic, the amp will sense i the speaker is 4 or 8 ohms
the lower the ohmerage the wattage tou can achieve but you can only get 4 ohms but connecting 2 4 ohm cabinets to the power mixer
or by linking 2 8 ohm cabinets together for each side

hope ive made sence :)

To be fair the Berry powered mixers are one of their worst products, if the amp fails then theres a big bang and that's that, they are rarely economic to repair, and when the amp goes it kills the mixer section and power supply too.

I can't comment on the Kam.

The best powered mixers are Soundcraft, Yamaha, Dynacord and Allen & Grief. Phonic and Samson are pretty ok for the more budget ones.

I'd only use a powered mixer if you really cant bear the thought of a passive (normal) mixer and seperate amplifier, if you dont have the room, budget or know-how to connect them together.
