Hi guys,

Does anybody have the DN-HC4500. I have used one that I borrowed in the past and found it to be a really excellent unit. Just got one myself and it is supposed to be plug and play. Problem is when I hook it up to my PC (Vista) and turn it on, my PC crashes with the dreaded blue screen instantly. It restarts and then crashes again and goes on like this. I downloaded the latest firmware but can't update my unit with it as I don't get a chance before my machine crashes. Anybody any ideas?? I know it is something simple that is causing the problem but can't figure out what, spent ages viewing the Denon forums but can't see a solution there.

Your in a bit of catch22 situation here aren't you lol
You need to install newer firmware that supports vista but you'll need to plug it into a computer that's running XP to do it huh.gif

Beg, borrow or steal an XP machine then:

-Turn HC power off
-Connect HC to PC by USB cable
-Hold down these two keys > BACK and SOURCE (on either deck) and turn the power ON
-The player is now set for UPDATES
-Open the update app
-drag&drop the HC4500_Vxxxx.bin file into the app (xxxx = whatever the latest firmware version is)
-push load
-push execute and wait for the "finished" screen
-Reset the HC power and you are done!

edit: rubbish spelling
