I don't know about you guys, but the village I live in knows I'm a DJ. Which means I always get dragged into all the various music discussions down my local pub. Every time someone is trying to remember a song title or an artist they automatically think I have the answer... which of course I don't!!!

Well the latest assumption is that as the village DJ, I know all about old shellac 78 records!

One of the farmers' sisters died recently and I was handed a box with about 20 very old 78's and the request to try and flog them somewhere... well there aren't any famous names but they are all very old (1910 - 1920's I'm guessing). I had a look on ebay and there are more on there that are not selling than are.

Other than hand them over to a local charity shop, anyone have any suggestions?

I need to keep my village DJ reputation intact whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

I used to collect 78's and I'm aware of the rough value of some.

Do you have a list?

I was tasked to clear alot of 78's when my local Hospital Radio closed,
I'm afraid unless they are in mint condition and rare they are not worth a great deal.

Sounds like a budget label reissue. Nothing.

Rolling Stones from 1964 on Decca

Mint, first pressing £600-£1000

Mint, second pressing £120-£200 depending on sleeve notes (different in each case).

How can you tell if it's first pressing or not.
